Yesterday, I shot my newly acquired G26.5 versus my SA Hellcat. I’ve been shooting the 26 since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t shot the Hellcat in several months, but yesterday, I shot them back to back several times on an 8 shot stage against the timer. The Hellcat is the OSP version and has a Holosun 407K. The 26 has the factory sights.
I shot them the same as far as accuracy, but found that I could go a little faster with the 26. I believe I was just able to get back on target faster. I’m also more accustomed to the Glock trigger than the Hellcat’s trigger which is a bit heavier. I normally shoot red dots and thought the dot would give me a bit of an advantage with the Hellcat. But, in reality, the Hellcat with the dot and the 26 with irons came out even. Next time, I’ll cut the dot off and run them both with irons.
The main thing that I noticed was that the 26 was a dream to shoot in comparison to the Hellcat. It was noticeably softer in recoil. I’ve never bought into the idea that the Hellcat or other micro 9mm’s are hard to control or snappy. But running the Hellcat back to back against the 26 was an eye opener. There is a difference in comparison to even a sub-compact like the 26. After running the Hellcat several rounds, and shooting it fast, I noticed a pinch or stinging of my trigger finger, something that didn’t occur with the 26.
