I know this is old news to most of you but im new to Glock so here goes...going to buy a 23 for carry. How simple is the 9mm conversion? Barrel and mags? Or is there more to it? Thanks

Do you use the G23 mags for 9mm or do you have to use 9mm mags? Also, do you have to change the extractor or ejector for better reliability? I only ask 'cause I don't know, for sure, and my son has a G23.Extremely easy. You would just buy a 9mm conversion barrel made for the Glock 23. I wouldn't use the conversion for my CC and stake my life on it, but I would use it at the range.
Please explain how a .40 extractor works on a 9mmMost of us get near perfect reliability with only a barrel and magazine change. In fact, some people run 40 extractors on 9mm to cure some extraction nuisances.
.40 Glocks are very versatile. They can be converted to shoot 9mm and 357Sig.Do you use the G23 mags for 9mm or do you have to use 9mm mags? Also, do you have to change the extractor or ejector for better reliability? I only ask 'cause I don't know, for sure, and my son has a G23.
The differences are minuscule. The 40 extractor is an unofficial cure for erratic ejection with 9mm Glocks when other cures failed. By all means, if a 9mm extractor is available and works use it.Please explain how a .40 extractor works on a 9mm
Not all hope is lost. There are several complete Glock 23 and 27 uppers on EBay for less than $300.And no, you can't convert your 9mm Glock to 40 as easily. The 9mm breechface is too small for a 40.
Can you tell us what kind of ejection issues you have had,I have one that has been converted but have ejection issues with it. Not reliable at all. Lonewolf barrel and spring. As a matter of fact I have put it back to .40.

How many rounds have you fired from your conversion barrel andExtremely easy. You would just buy a 9mm conversion barrel made for the Glock 23. I wouldn't use the conversion for my CC and stake my life on it, but I would use it at the range.
In a way that is why I prefer a Glock 23 converted to 9mm vs a Glock 19. The extra thickness in the barrel wall giving a bit of extra weight to the gun.I found the LWD barrel to have problems with commercial reloads.
Factory new UMC, WWB, etc seemed to run fine.
The factory armorer instructors will tell you to use the 9mm firing pin when converting .40 -> 9mm, because of the concern for pierced primers; although I've never heard of anyone having this issue.
You can't simply use the OEM 9mm barrel in a .40 because the barrel OD of the 9mm is smaller; but you can use the .357 SIG OEM barrel in a .40 [and vice versa] as the barrel OD's are the same.
You can buy a lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel I would be just as comfortable carrying it as my 40 barrel. You practically have a g23 and a g19Extremely easy. You would just buy a 9mm conversion barrel made for the Glock 23. I wouldn't use the conversion for my CC and stake my life on it, but I would use it at the range.
Just make sure you buy Glock 19 mags and mark them to where you can easily identify between the magsYou can buy a lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel I would be just as comfortable carrying it as my 40 barrel. You practically have a g23 and a g19
