:supergrin:I have not run the LW Comp. Though, I do have a KKM barrel & comp on a G29 & G20.

Runs very nice w/"nuclear" 180gr & 200gr XTP bullets. I went w/the Wolff guide rods & springs.

Had to do some dremel work, on the Blade-tech holsters. But, w/that they carry good.

Good shooting

I have a "couple" more:supergrin:. But here are the KKM comped guns.

Good shooting
How do you like them?...I observed another Glock owner with this Comp at my Range; it seemed to direct the flash up in front of his field of view and smoke and particles would appear to fly close to his face.

While I have normal and extended barrels for my G20s and G29, my preference is no holes, no comps, just a clean straight barrel.

Even shooting DT or BB high powered ammo, the GLOCKS kick less than my 4 inch Smith in .357.

Can you tell us if these KKM comps actually help your shooting..?.

Thanks.!
Bob

The comps help me shoot faster.

I get about 1/4 of the muzzle rise, that I would get w/an "uncomped" 10mm. Thus, I'm back on target faster reducing the time between shots & also reducing the transition time between targets.

Generally that means, if both of us were shooting the same load, say a 200gr XTP @ 1250 fps, and you had an uncomped 10mm. I could put 3 rds on target before you got off your 2nd shot.

Good shooting

The downside of the screw on compensators is that:
1) you have to unscrew them every time you want to remove the barrel
2) Getting them to cleanly clear a holster may be a challenge

I had a KKM and replaced it with a ported lone wolf, which is an extended, straight barrel with ports in the top. I wish the ports were angled from the a 45 degree angle, rather than at the top. The ports at the top do push the muzzle blast into the line of site more. It doesn't bother me at the range, but a shoot out in the dark, with no glasses, could be bothersome.

The LW comp does work, I've seen several in USPSA competition on open guns, looks strange, but quite effective.
My team partner ran a KKM comp for several years, it also works, but it's not quite as effective as the Lone Wolf. In all fairness, the KKM was avaliable 5 or 6 years before the LW comp, so consider them 1st & 2nd generation.
Not a lot of comps out there for Glocks; There must be at least 20 different designs for the 1911 platform !

got to add here, a proper holster makes it easy to clear with a comp. A comp REALLY isn''t a good idea on a CCW firearm. Try to shoot one from a close-in hold & you blast yourself. A comp really belongs on a plinker or a competition pistol where rules permit.

Hey Uncle Albert,

Some very good points:supergrin:

I do disagree w/you, on comps NOT being used as CCW guns. But, I honor your opinion. An inexperienced shooter, that does not understand the concept of how the gas is directed, could hurt themselves.

Though, being an experienced shooter (ie Master IDPA, Master GSSF..2 1/2 conflicts as an Airborne Ranger, during a 21 yr military career..), I have learned to use the comp's "effects" as an advantage, that I exploit.

..along w/the tremendous external & terminal ballistics that the 10mm cartridge can provide.

Good shooting

Buski,
Since you've got the knowledge, YES a comp makes a fine weapon in a secondary application when properly applied ! But I've seen novice shooters remove flesh from their own hands with them(usually only do this once...).
Given that my proportions are rather like that of a penguin (5-9, 230 lbs,28" inseam) I only use them on my open guns ! Never got a chance to use tax supplied ammo, got rejected by the Army & U.S.M.C. (on the same day no less!) in 1969, something about 20/400 uncorrected (lack of) vision.
On your 21 yr. Mil. service, THANK YOU !

(you WILLINGLY jumped out of perfectly good airplanes, huh ?)

Not sure why it's refered to "jumping", out of aircraft. With the bulk, position and weight of the additional gear you have on, you usually step/trip/fall out.

That & a couple other stunts, got me an 80% disabillity VA rating.

Which, is 1 of the reason I have comped guns; I can't runaway. I must "stand & deliver."

Good shooting
