Just picked up a Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS and noticed 2 of the 3 magazine stick slightly

I've posted some photos to show where they get hung up.....is this a case of get out there and shoot it and keep practicing reloads or should I have some other concerns?

The mags should drop free of the gun. if you are not completely depressing the mag release they may have some resistance and get hung up as they come out of the gun. If there are some rough spots or excess material on the mags, or a burr on the mag release or in the magwell causing them to hang up, that may smooth out a bit through use. I wouldn’t be overly concerned because a quick flick of the wrist during a reload should free the mag from the gun. Have someone else try ejecting all three mags and see if the same mags have issues for them. Also test it by ejecting the mags by depressing the mag release completely with your support thumb while making sure your dominant hand is not impeding the mag release. If the mags continue to get stuck in the gun, I’d give GLOCK a call and explain the issue.

I wouldn’t be concerned by the wear in the pics on the magwell or mags because that may happen as you inserting the mags rather than when they are being ejected; the marks don’t tell you much in terms of diagnosing a problem.

The only GLOCK I had a similar issue with was a G43. I ended up using weighted mag base pads and extensions and the added weight allowed all of the mags to drop free.

All my Gen 5's seem to want to do that with various mags, especially with mags that arent Gen 5. Dont have that problem with any of the other Gens.

I just look at it as realistic practice and Im not surprised or bothered by a mag that hasn't dropped free. I just clear it and reload.

thank you for sharing your experience. This is not my first Glock, i've had probably more than I can count on both hands but this IS my first gen 5. Really liking the revisions to this generation but have never experienced this issue before.

The mays should drop free, not sure if it’ll smooth out but I’d be frustrated. In a SD situation that shouldn’t be a concern.

I had that issue with an FNX (a known issue) and they had me send it in and they corrected the problem at no charge. Might be worth calling the mother ship.

Yes. Frustrated is a perfect word to use. I purchased the pistol with the intention of EDC; for now, I will use the magazine that has been 100% flawless and continue to function through the other 2 and hope that things work out. If they dont, I am confident as the original buyer and my experience with Glock customer service in the past things will work out just fine.

My 22+ yr old G19-3 had a rebuilt frame, and 3 brand new 15 rd mags. They loaded fine, shot fine, ejected about half the times fine. Tempermental they worked. Took a little Armor All,wiped them down, and after shooting, with empty mags, loaded in and out like a dry fire. After a while, dropped fine every time. Break in is important with firearms, despite some who say nah!
Magpul mags was a little sticky too, but after a little Armour All, did fine as well.

FWIW, my new (< 400 rounds) G19.5 MOS with non-gen-5 mags has the same issue (mags don't drop free). I'll give it some more time but I'm stuck with my older mags unless I want to move to 10-rounders (which I don't).

Not sure what the deal is, but I have in over 30 years, never had this problem with any of my Glocks. The magazines should drop free with or without ammo.
