I have an AmeriGlo bold .165 height front sight. I contacted AmeriGlo to find a rear that would work with my gen 4 g19. I asked AmeriGlo if GL-865r would work. This is a u notch rear sight with a height of .276.
the first email I received said:
Good morning,
That sight should work just fine with that pistol.
Have a great day,
My response was:
Thanks for the response. Are you sure it will work with the .165 height front sight? I did some reading last night and from what I understand, the proper rear height for a .165 front is .256 rear. The gl-865r appears to be .276 tall. Wouldn’t that be too tall?
AmeriGlo response:
Good afternoon,
.276” rear with a .165” front is the exact configuration of the Agent sight sets provided by us for use by many federal agencies. In fact, the rear sight you linked below is the exact same rear they use with a .165” front sight post. You should be just fine.
Thanks,
So now I’m still unsure. I feel like the AmeriGlo rep is mistaken. The issue for me is the sight is $60, plus $50 for installation at my lgs. If it doesn’t work, I’m going to need to spend another $50 in labor to replace the sight AmeriGlo told me would work, and possibly the cost of another rear sight. Anyone have experience with this?
