So all this hype over the new Gen 5, supposed to be more reliable, new internals, only 35 parts...yada yada yada... Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on one, but check this "torture test" out.

View: https://youtu.be/ZR0Ss3yVV5I

I've seen previous gens be torture tested with sand, peanut butter, and whatever people can think of and still go into battery and fire.
What are your thoughts/opinions? I'm kinda disappointed with the video. Previous gens seemed to do A LOT better. Maybe y'all know something I don't? For now, I'll be sticking to my gen 3's as a matter of personal preference.

That "torture test" should be called "How to prove you are an idiot"

NO semi-automatic handgun would function without a magazine in the magwell, after you shove dirt, sand and mud in it. Throw a Glock Gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 11 without a magazine in it and you'd get the same results.

Anyone who actually thinks this video proves anything is as foolish as the derp who produced it.

Check out the comments on that video...they are both so true and so funny it makes me wonder if the guy who made this video was serious, or was pranking everyone.

It's ridiculous, but amusing.

DERP IN PROCESS...

Yes, I thought the same thing, I was like, "Man, I can't remember how many times I've been walking with my Glock in my hand, with the magazine out and then drop it in a huge pile of dirt and then kick dirt over it and in it and then I try to shoot it and it doesn't work, and then I pull the mag out and then accidentally drop it in sand and it won't work and then I drop it again after pulling the magazine in a big pile of mud and pick it up and it is covered in mud and I shove a fresh mag in and it won't work."

Happens all the time!

The Gen 5 is obviously a horrible failure from Glock.

I'm surprised the shooting range that put this video up has not yet realized how foolish it is making them look. It's just downright embarrassing for them. They are being totally trashed in the video comments, which are just now hilarious.

I doubt it would work if you had the magazine out, and while at a movie theater fell and filled the mag well with movie theater popcorn, either. I am surprised that was not tested.

Does anyone know? Did me watching a few minutes of his video contribute to his post count? I hope not. I don't need that weighing on my conscience!

Yes, if you fill your Glock's magwell with popcorn it will cause it to jam, but if you order it with extra butter, you should be ok.

The guy that did the video also should probably not own a gun as often as he seems to drop his pistol out doing pretty much doing anything or at least extremely worried about it. I have been around and using firearms for 55 years and have yet to drop a firearm when even while hunting or the time I stepped on a board I could not see in the very tall field grass and two spikes went well into my foot. I have always placed a very high priority on not dropping my firearms. Dropping your loaded firearm should always be considered extremely dangerous to do. Even with drop safeties a firearm can go off and often the person who has dropped it will try to catch it instinctively.

I see the value of debris tests as a comparative type of thing but at least do it realistically. If you drop the mag out of the gun AND THEN drop the gun on the beach during a firefight man you're not having a good day. Pretty sure virtually all guns would "fail" that scenario.

You are trying to hard to be funny or to make some kind of point. Better luck next time.
I'm here to educate neophytes on all matters and aspects of smallarms.

You don't have to thank me for improving your general knowledge of all things firearms related. It's a public service because I'm such a big hearted fellow.

I've seen various torture tests of Glocks in the past, some had things like a large truck running over the gun and various "toss it in the mud" evolutions.

They have for the most part performed very well in what most of the responders have said is pretty unrealistic/extreme. Pretty hard to envision a real world scenario where such abuse would happen.

Further, I really cringe when I see people abuse machinery of any kind. Before back surgery limited me to no high impact exercise, I didn't like dropping mags out of the gun in IDPA events out of concern the mag lips might be damaged.

Have owned several Glocks in the past, all highly reliable other than a G20 which ran like a top with generic Blazer aluminum but didn't like Double Tap. Don
