I notice the difference in recoil when firing the Gen4 v Gen5 22. I carried Gen3 and then 4 for 15+ years as LE and have lots of rounds dowm them. To me, the Gen5 is what it should have been way back when! I'm ok with the slightly bulkier and heavier Gen5 slide. Love the no finger grooves as well. Where I step back and like the Gen3 or 4 over the Gen5 is the 23 model. Just tooo wide in the shorter slide. Just a personal preference.

To me the 22 gen 5 feels significantly lighter in recoil than the gen 2-3-4 versions due to the heavier slide. You might still notice more “push” due to the greater weight reciprocating, but the “slap” is very equivalent to a regular 17 shooting duty ammo.

One of my favorite guns 👍🏻

On the Gen 4 and earlier, I feel a little more sting in the hand/wrist bones sometimes. The Gen 5 is still a man's caliber, but it takes the edge off of the recoil a bit. I still run the G35 gen 4 a lot because they never made it to Gen 5.

When firing any of them under the shot timer, I don't feel the difference. Time compression throws recoil and less than perfect triggers out the window.
