gemtech LID

I have a gemtech multimount supressor on order. Any body have experience with these on a G19. I am wondering if the LID (Linear Inertial Decoupler recoil enhancer) that gemtech offers is necessary or even worth the money?

I have one, and to use it on a tilt barrel pistol (like Glocks, M1911, and SIGs) you will need it for reliable cycling.

I used the LID on a SIG and the fixed mount on a Beretta M9. (eventually got rid of the SIG - mistake)

Yup. Dry.

It is aluminum so you do not want to shoot water or water-based gels in it. I did use some lithium grease a couple of times. To a sound meter it may have made a difference, but not to my ears. Maybe I did not use enough.

With a short (3" or 3.5") barrel and the LID,and the grease, I got blow-back from a SIG 239 tactical.

With the fixed mount, no grease, and the Beretta it is great.

Because of the extra weight hanging off the front it does not recoil as fast nor as far, so the shots hit lower than without the can.

With the LID that is not as noticeable I think. (It has been a while.)

Without the LID:

With the LID (if it is very dirty):

If you can afford it, get both the American piston (1/2" x 28tpi) and the European piston (13x1 LH) while you still can.

All I need to get is the 3-lug mount and the European fixed mount, and I'll have what I need for nearly any 9mm host.

you will need the LID for the glock, I have the exact same set up as what you're getting, ie works great with the LID, without it it's a single shot or worse (jam).

I spray WD-40 in mine for extra sound suppression. most pistol suppressors are fine with a little grease or water or ?.

it's the rifle suppressors that you have to really be careful with.:wow: and is generally discouraged.

The Gemtech operation and maintenance guide that came with my Multimount states:

"We do suggest spraying (or even immersing) the inside with a teflon based lubricant (such as Break Free) to decrease carbon buildup within the suppressor. Although it will generate some smoke on initial firing, it will also significantly enhance performance (by approximately 10 dB)."

Break Free is what I use.
