G43 Pocket Holster

I have never been a fan of pocket carry. However, because of a very hot summer I purchased a G43 for pocket carry. After a few hits and misses I happened upon a Vedder pocket holster. I’m sure there are other good kydex pocket holsters but I really like this one. Adds very little bulk, gun fits tight and is easy to draw. It’s available right or left handed or ambi, with or without a thumb pusher.

I just received mine from Alabama holsters and I really like it allot. It was curved a bit too much for my big legs but two minutes with my heat gun and that was remedied. Works great and it will replace my Ruger LCP when I want something more powerful.

We don't wear yoga pants. j/k

In a pair of 5.11 Tac-lite Pro pants, or not-tight jeans, a 43 or similar can ride in a kydex pocket holster with relative ease. You know its there, but like anything your brain gets used to it after a while and you no longer notice it. IMO its sure a lot more comfortable than have a G19 on your belt.

That looks crazy to stick in a pocket.

I don’t have room in my pockets as it is not the size of the pocket wold accommodate for a clean draw on any pistol.

Idk - I couldn’t do pocket carry nor see much realism to considering it. Looks like a problem that can cost a life tbh.

But that’s just my opinion, everyone is different.

In what way?

I don't pocket carry often, but was wondering what the downsides are that you are thinking of?

The one downside that comes to my mind is the possibility of having my hand trapped in my pocket, if wrapped up at that moment. Seems less likely with jacket pocket than with jeans front pocket.

Pocket carry is not my first choice but it has its place for hot weather and maybe for a quick errand. I wear cargo pants to loose fitting jeans most of the time and there is plenty of room in my pocket. I don’t see how this would be any less safe than an IWB holster. To each his own, whatever works.

Hand trapping and speed slowing.

Those are the two common things I could thing of realistically that can become a big problem.

Throw on a number of daily pairs you wear most often. Stick your hand in there and make a full fist. Draw out like you were gripping your gun.

I can’t imagine most pairs of pants allowing much room for that to happen swiftly.

Let alone the grip position has to be odd and less natural compared to off the waist I can imagine.

Are you able to get a solid grip every single time? A proper grip off the draw?

I can’t imagine so.

Yes although the gun rests basically off your leg, sitting in the pocket I can imagine it dipping at whatever angle it finds extra room to snug itself into.

Put your wallet in your front pocket a certain way and see how long it stays that position.

It’ll move.

Granted the holster helps steady it but again I’m sure there’s small increments that will not have that grip perfectly aligned for when you go in grip it with a full fist to then pull out with speed - 100% proper every time.

For as much practice as one suggests while carrying any position off the waist line - I can only be convinced that pocket carry would require double the amount of practice.

I personally find no appeal for it in any situation, not even jacket carry (although that might be a better option than your pants) and I just think it’s flat out dangerous.

But there’s plenty others who’ve done it for years and swear by it..

I’m not one to agree.

If you have a timer - test it...

Draw from all position your carry from including the pocket and see if it’s much slower in comparison while paying attention to your grip.

If you need to make adjustments mid pull or at any point than it’s a fail imo.

I think the speed of the draw is most important than anything.

Faster you get that gun on target the more likely you have a chance of winning.

I wear regular jeans, no cargo nothing special ops type or big for no reason.

I shove my keys in my pocket or even my wallet and it is sometimes hard to get out. Straight fit regular fit jeans. Nothing right or any of this crazy styles.

Imagine having to draw that while sitting in the car driving.

No thanks.

Thanks, all good points.

About jacket carry, in the winter time it is probably faster than other methods. I'm talking snow on the ground, below freezing, dressed warm. My IWB will be under several layers. So a snubby revolver in my outer coat pocket is easier for me to get to :)

I have one of those rough leather Galco Pocket holsters, for my G42. It das a hook on the bottom that catches on the edge of your pocket when you draw.

Pocket carry my 43 MOST of the time in dockers, dress slacks and even jeans. However, I am an old guy and my jeans are a little looser than some. Pocket carry for a 43, for me, even in jeans, at most just looks like I have "something" in my pocket. Dress slacks (particularly pleated slacks, the 43 in a pocket holster just goes away and is almost completely in-noticeable.
