I have owned and proudly carry my Gen 3 G32 since 06 or 07. I am going to add a G33 to the inventory and probably carry it more often.

My question is, does the Gen 4 offer more control over the Gen 3 in the G33? Smaller pistol hot stout Underwood ammo etc.. I know the baby 9MM it doesn't matter but how about the 357 SIG? Anyone shoot both a Gen 3 and 4 G33?

Thanks

No more control, unless you get it from the grip. The recoil system is the same - unlike your G32, where the gen4 will reduce the recoil some with its dual spring RSA. Personally, I prefer the gen4 over gen3. The shorter trigger reach is main thing. I got an early gen4 G26, and gave my gen3 G26 away. Bought the gen4 G32 and G22. All of my gen4s have been very reliable.

The recoil on the G33 is not bad, but it definitely heats up the hand more than the in the larger guns.

The only advantage I can see is the large back strap for the grip, if you have large hands. I have large hands and I carry a gen3 glock 33 a lot during the summer time.

Gen 4 gets my vote! I had a 32C gen 3 and now a 32 gen 4. No question that the .4 feels better in my hands.

I have a Gen 3 Model 33 and like it. It feels like my Gen 3 Model 27s. I have a second barrel so I can shoot either .357 Sig or .40 S&W. When finances permit, I'm going to add a Glock Model 32 to my growing family.

What I am hearing is that as far as recoil and shootability the G4 and G3 are identical, the only difference is the width of the grip and the trigger and mag release reach? Other than that I would not know the difference?

The grip texture is different and the gen4 mag release is bigger and easier to operate (and can be switched to lefty). It's not the width of the grip but the length (front to back).

I sold my Gen 3 Glock 33..

to wait for the Gen 4 G33 ( I still had a Gen 3 G31 and G32)
but the wait was longer than expected.

Because our local ammo supply dried up, we moved away from .357 SIG.

147 grain always had less recoil and muzzle blast than the others, esp. true
with the G33, that let you feel the heat with some of the hotter loads.

If the Gen 4 fits your hand, then buy it.

I'd buy a Gen 4 G26 in the morning if I had the funds.

Probably a Gen 3 Glock 36 as well:)

I have the Gen4 G27 that I bought a .357 barrel for it and it shoot well to me.

The gen 3 Glock 357 Sigs and .40 calibers swap barrels easily, all that is needed is a barrel swap and they work perfectly. The same can't be said for the gen 4 Glocks, there are a couple more parts plus the barrel that must be changed with the barrel swap to make the gun reliable. This hassle with the barrel swap is a total deal breaker for me, I can swap the barrel on my G33 literally in less than a minute AND it works perfectly. I will never own a gen 4 in either of these calibers.

I would go with a Generation 4 pistol if I really needed to use the ambi mag release and back straps. But I've not found the need for it.

Do you prefer the texture of the 4 vs the 3 for the ability to hold on as well, thinking about how I am tired of grip tape.
Yes, that's mainly it. It definitely feels better after extended shooting. My hands are on the medium side so it just feels better in my hand too. Obviously it's a personal thing so get some extended shooting time with both if you can.

This is nonsense and you have stated it before. Please give us details and a source. I have gen4s in sub, compact, and full size for which I swap .40 and 357 barrels and nothing else - I'm wondering if I have some mysterious power or I'm just dreaming.

I put allot of rounds through my Gen 3 G33 but when my Dept. switched calibers I went to a G27 Gen 4. I'm using the medium beavertail backstrap and really like it. During rapid fire I would sometimes engage the slide lock by accident with my thumb on the G33. With the Gen 4 large backstrap or medium beavertail I don't have that problem. Other than that I don't see any difference between the two generations.

Thinking about the texture, and the 4 did feel better, if I want another project It will be a 33, have one issue left and probably ask that in the reloading forum relative to trimming 357 sig brass.
Thanks for the reply.
