I have a G27 which was purchased approx. 3 years ago.
Also have a 9mm barrel and mags AND 357 Sig barrel and mags.
Total rounds is approx. 3500. 357 Sig approx. 500, 9mm approx. 1000 with the rest being 40 S&W.
Never had a problem with the gun until a couple of weeks ago.
Had some older 165 gr Critical Defense 165 gr 40 S&W and thought I would use it up as I am transitioning to Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST.
I had 6 rounds out of 32 to have light strikes, but when I put them back in a magazine they fired.
I checked the RSA and it looked a little "warped" but I am not totally sure how it should look. Checked the striker and from my viewpoint it looked clean and fully functional.
Another 32 rounds with half being some Remington target 180 gr ammo and similar light strikes results.
Cleaned the gun and shot 180 gr Remington (was out of Critical Defense) and 180 gr Blaser Brass. This time I was getting 3-4 failures to fully feed and one light strike out of 50ish rounds.
Cleaned the gun again.
Put in the 9mm and fired 100 rounds of Lawman 125 gr flawlessly.
Cleaned the gun and reinserted the 40 S&W barrel. Purchased two new magazines to try to prove the original 2 9 rounders and a 13 rounder were good or bad.
Shot 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle 180 gr and had 1 failure to feed...and forgot to note which magazine...dummy me.
So this a.m. I loaded up with Federal American Eagle 180 round FMJ. 50 rounds and 3 failures to feed (rounds fired upon reinsertion) and 1 light strike (reinsertion fired). One of the new magazines has the light strike and the 13 rd mag had two failures to feed and one of the older 9 round magazines had a failure to feed.
Did I mention that the gun shoots very accurately! ..I really like 40 S&W (have 4 of them among 20 handguns)...had to get the positives in.
I do not believe the problem is with the mags.??
I have a heavy tungsten RSA on the way from the Glockstore.
If that does not work then off to Glock after reinserting the original RSA.
All of the 9mm rounds firing flawlessly has me puzzled. Got to try some 357 Sig as a sperement.
Any of you folks have an ideas of similar situations.
I do not carry the G27 on me daily, however it is a truck/car backup easy to get to weapon.
Another positive is in my almost daily training (hey, I am old and retired and have a range in my back yard) I am getting some good experience in clearing "jams". The failures to feed with the Critical Defense 165 actually made it very difficult to get the magazines out to clear the weapon.....not good in a SD situation. Have not had those types of "jams" since switching to 180 gr FMJ.
Thanks for any suggestions.
