Sorry if this has been covered, but I did a search and got no results. I only have a G19 at the moment but am eyeing a 30s. What I want to know is how do their weights, fully loaded, compare when carrying IWB? Is the 30s noticeably heavier?

You might like the XDs with it's 5+1 it really is quite the .45 concealment package.
Perfect blend of compact, light, and powerful.

Since I live in NY I can only have 10 rounds so I thought I could do a good apples to apples weight comparison
G19 w/124 gr bullets
1lb 13.1 oz

G30s w/230 gr bullets
1lb 15.6 oz
Thanks for putting it into perspective! I have a 19, 30s, and XDs .45. I like them all, and I regularly carry all 3 depending on my dress & circumstances.

I'm 5'11" and around 180, and I have no problems carrying the 19 or 30s IWB. I found that a good gunbelt (my preference is Bullhide Belts makes all the difference, OWB or IWB.

I have a N82 Pro for my Glock 19, but it also fits a 26 & 30s. I really like this holster, at first I thought it would be big & bulky, but it is very comfortable even with my shirt tucked in. Here is the N82 with a G26:

I recently bought a Tucker Cover Up for the 30s, and I've been carrying it for nearly a week. I am very impressed with it. I can tuck in my shirt with very little printing.

Good luck!

Your welcome
I have a N82 Pro also. It's the only IWB that I use. I bought 1 for a G17 by mistake when I wanted the G19 model. Only difference was the backing leather is bigger. I use this holster for my G19, G17, G30s and G21. I've found that if supports all the guns better without a undershirt as the backer hugs your skin and spreads the weight over a larger area. With the undershirt on it tends to slide down and pull down on my pants. I'm sure if I wore a gun belt that problem would be taken care of. I just don't like the way a gun belt feels.
So to me - with this N82 Pro holster I can carry even a G21 without it feeling heavier than my G19

Dude.....that's a lot of firing power.
Are you expecting a war to suddenly break out?

Yes that does seem like alot of preparation

My G19 with 15+1 and my G30S with 9+1 both come in right around 30 oz with essentially no difference in weight. I don't notice much of a difference carrying them at all. The 30S has a slightly shorter grip with the flush mag and the 19 has a slightly thinner frame, but both essentially carry the same for me.

I saw a guy on another forum make a thread about purchasing his second Glock 19 to carry on the opposite side IWB just so that the weight would balance and offset his first 19 . I thought that was great. I have no issue with someone carrying more fire power. The most I can usually manage is a spare mag or maybe an LCP/CW380 in the pocket in place of the mag. I really would like to carry my j frame in place of the LCP, but just can't bring myself to do it consistently.

That's 10 9mm, right? The G26 is maybe an ounce less, if that.

I have a Glock .45 on my wish list. Whatever model is the most NY efficient, meaning 10 rounds +1 in chamber, and no wasted space :)

Yep 10 rnds of 9mm
I don't mind carrying my 21 but the weight does get to you.
If I'm going to be driving/sitting alot I carry my 19. If standing/walking around my 30s is with me.

Also, for thought:

I can often stand to lose five pounds or more from my gut. That would be a lot better improvement than worrying over a few ounces of pistol - absent any medical or similar issues.

And yeah, any pistol can feel like a chunk of rock at the end of a long hard day. Uncomfortable. But again, if I need a pistol - then things have already gone to potty and I may need to keep my family safe from what could easily turn much, much worse.

Personal choice. My two cents.

If you do any defensive handgun training, you will start to realize how important ammunition is. I personally much rather have 15 rounds of 9mm than 10 of .45cal. So to carry the same amount of ammo, you would need 1 xtra 19 mag but 2 xtra 30s mags. The worst thing that can happen is you run out of ammo. It's a scary thought. So maybe you should factor that xtra 30s mag into the equation.

That's a common justification by the 9mm fanboys (of which I am one), but if you can't get the job done with 20 rounds of .45 you are probably screwed anyway.

Personally I'm sticking with the 9mm. I would switch to the .45 if I lived in a Commie 10-round state.

So, like it's been said, with the additional 5/6 rounds in the G19, the weight would be pretty much equal huh?
5 more rounds of Federal HST 9mm 147gr is 2.3 oz
So a G19 with 15 rnds will weigh .2oz less than a G30s with 10 rnds.
So if I had these choices I would carry the G19
But I don't so I carry a G30s now.
Have you shot both yet? Personally I shoot my G30s better than my G19

#20 ·
I have both, and maybe it's psychological more than anything, but the 30s is noticeably heavier and less comfortable than the 19 to me

Agree with the commie state comment, If IL went back to the capacity ban I'd go back to my 45c or maybe the 30s, but for now I prefer the capacity of 9mm Glocks since we no longer have capacity limits

I posted this a while back:

As for weight, my 30S hits the scale at 22.95oz unloaded and 30.36 loaded. Whereas my 19 is 23.65 unloaded and 30.18 loaded.....pretty much a wash. You're going to get 15+1 rounds w/ 9mm or 10+1 with 45. Toss some HST 230 grain in your 30S and you will be more than ready to go.

Both are great choices, I do like the tapered nose of the 30s over the block nose of the 19....easier to holster.

That information is on the product page of the Glock website.

G19, Fully loaded, bullet weight unknown, 30.18oz
G30S, Fully loaded, bullet weight unknown, 30.36oz

Anecdotally I personally notice no difference between the 19 and the 30S on my belt. My big gripes with carrying the 30S over the 19 are: 1) 10 round magazines pinching the crap out of my pinky 2) spare 13 round magazines are harder to conceal than the gun itself.

The 9 round magazine, even with a pearce +0 shoots and conceals fantastic, so that's usually what I go with when I feel like carrying the 30S.

I have both carry both in VM2. 19 carries easier for me but only slightly.
G30S grip does not fit me well;can shoot it ok.

For 45acp carry I will be looking at the Shield 45acp for subcompact 45.

My g30S may get traded.

It would be interesting to put a loaded G30 in a holster in say a paper bag and a loaded G19 in the same type holster in a paper bag and see how many could tell the difference in weight between the two by picking up each bag.
