Hello, I'm new here. I've owned a Gen2 G19 for several years and I'm now thinking of purchasing a Gen3 or maybe even a gen4 G23.

Will the older gen2 G19 upper/slide work on the newer G23 frame? Just so that I can fire 9mm on a frame with a rail in the front part of the frame (which the gen2 frame doesn't have) for attachments like a tac light, laser, etc...

I also plan to make the G23 .40 my primary carry gun and perhaps be able to practice using 9mm just for kicks.

I'm actually not sure. I know you can do it, gen 3 to gen 3. I think. Notice I said think, you would have to change maybe the extractor.

I do not think that the Gen 4 is an exact fit for the Gen 3 slides, but that is just something that i read, no personal experiences with that.

Where are you going to find an extra slide for your caliber conversion. I thought of doing that with Lone Wolf slides/parts, but the cost is prohibitive. However it might be worth if for making a hard-to-find long slide?

well you can just get a 9mm g19 barrel and swap it into the g23 along with a g19 mag and you can shoot 9mm out of the g23. The barrels are like 100 bucks from lone wolf. You don't need the entire slide. I'm not sure if you can use the gen 2 barrel on a gen3 tho but that saves you even more money if you can. maybe someone else can chime in about that?

It's a can't-go-wrong move, but not really necessary. The actual trigger housings are the same, but the ejectors are slightly different. There's plenty of .40 Glock shooters with 9mm conversion barrels who haven't changed out their ejectors/trigger housings.

I have an extra gun. :supergrin: It's just that my present gen2 9mm doesn't have the rail so I'm thinking of just swapping slides and be done with it. The G19 works perfectly though, I'm just thinking of interchangability as a consideration for the purchase of a new G23.
