If the FOPA act of 1986 was repealed, it would be possible to own select fire anything.

I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I dont either.

Since its likely an import, unless Glock started making them here, you'd probably have to go back and get rid of the GCA 68 for that to work. And if we're going back, might as well get rid of the NFA 34. Let the dominoes begin to fall! :)

If the idiot pot heads can get what they've done accomplished, gun owners should be able to change restrictions. Remember the medical marijuana B.S.? How about medical machine guns/therapy guns.
I tried bringing my emotional support glock into the airport once. It didn't go well for me.

Sure....I'll get right on it and make it happen.

I've shot a Glock 18. You blink once, and then you lower your arm to see the sights again, but it's already empty - good for lobbing over the backstop. Just as fun as lighting firecrackers while holding it in your bare hands.

I think there are bigger things to worry about on this planet.

Me before I shot a full auto gun:
THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT I CANNOT WAIT OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO COOL

Me after I shot a full auto gun:
Oh... well... it was ok... not sure what I was expecting... and now I've got to finish the rest of boot camp, MCT, MOS School, and a 6 year reserves commitment... joy.

I have shot one too. It was at an outdoor range. I paid for one fully loaded 33 round magazine and got in line. There were three range guys, one right behind the shooter and one on each side, they were close. I tell you, it doesn’t take long to empty a 33 round magazine. It was a hoot!

You did it wrong.

I was forward (as a civ) with some folks in the desert and the 1SG decided he didn't want to have to inventory the ammo stocks that month, so he invited a bunch of us to an impromptu shoot day. A dozen of us went though ~20k rounds in 4 hours. I had shot FA before, but not out of an M4. It was fun for a bit, then it just got hot.

All of the fun, none of the work. It was a good way to do it. The bedouins even picked up the brass for us.

I got it out of my system and realized that I don't want FA. 3-round burst, maybe. I have only tried that with an MP5.

FA is pretty easy, once you learn the technique, and its a simple technique to learn. Over the years, Ive taught a bunch of people how it goes, and the ones who were the easiest and quickest to teach were the women and children.

If you "try" to hold the gun down on target, you never will, you want to relax and ride the gun, like it were a fire hose, and go with the flow. Do that, and mag dumps on a paper plate at 10 yards are pretty simple.

Once you understand that, youll have a completely different experience than trying to force/muscle the gun to your will. Try and do that, and I can pretty much guarantee what the gun will do, which is, ride up and off in the direction of your strong hand. Up and to the right for right handed shooters.

Things like the Glocks and MAC's, etc, with the high cyclic rates, that dont have a stock, and/or have the grips "amidships", are a bit of a different critter too and really arent for beginners. Stocks make a major difference in how things go with any of them too.

What bugs me is that gang bangers on YouTube can fire their illegally switch-modified Glocks all day long with no repercussions. Someone posted an ATF memo a while back (might not have been on this site) that agents should NOT go after "the youth."

So, yes, we should be able to have G18s, 93Rs, and CZ 75 Autos.

The repercussions are coming, though not to the folks who are causing the problems: there is legislation here in CA to outlaw legal possession of glocks precisely because the gangbangers are putting switches on them.

Since the G18 has been such a restricted model, how about allowing it in the hands of legal responsible NFA private owners?
You'll have to talk to the gubmint about that. Good luck.

It's funny watching human behavior. They only want what's not available.
Very true. It's the only reason anyone wants a RTF2/gill slide Glock these days. I had one when they were new and it pretty much sucked. Glock read the room and dropped them fast.

The same with FA weapons that aren't crew-served or weigh less than 10 pounds: it looks cool, but isn't practical for most real world usage. If FA somehow became as easy to buy as any other firearm you'd find that after a little while almost everybody'd be using them in semiauto 99% of the time.

Just get a Glock 17, do it up with an FRT trigger and it's like a poor man's 18

Like people said, unless you rip out 3-6 round bursts it's just a bullet hose. The 18 exists as a specialized weapon for guys like the Mossad or Secret Service as a machine pistol for burping out lots of lead at very close range . Even the Mossad used those Mako foregrips and stocks to help control them .

There's a reason Beretta made that 93R a 3 Round Burst and not a full auto

A Franklin binary 17 is probably your only "legal " option and it has a semi - binary selector so you can fire it like a normal 17

I went even cheaper and dropped a Binary in a Glock 25. Purely a toy. The fun factor wears off quick but it's fun to take out once in a while to make 200 bucks worth of 380 dissapear in 5 minutes

A couple of my coworkers were interested in a Binary Glock so I let them fire my 25, they thought it was cool but then really didn't have much interest in converting a Glock to binary after that. Basically the theory sounds cooler than the reality
