The G17L barrel will drop right in. No problems with pressure. It _might_ change the point-of-aim, due to less bullet drop / faster muzzle velocity.

"Will a 17L long barrel work in the G17 frame? Would the increase in pressure be problamatic, change in sighting, .....?"

Pretty sure the locking block and bbl. cam are the same for both?

Will be no difference in firing compatibility as breech-face strength will be same/adequate and "L" bbl. is already built as it should be. However the mass of the 17's slide may be less and d/n recall if the "L" series had an oval cut-out in slide top with addn'l lightening within slide, similar to the pistols that "replaced them, -- 34's & 35's?
Still, probably will function OK, if not simply tune with a Wolff rod and spring or ISMI.

On the other hand, they do sell an extended OEM bbl. for the G20 but its slide has no lightening at all.
