My initial review: https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/fusion-xp-pro-2011ish.2015913/
I do need to post a follow up, there are a few things that need to be covered and updated.
I will state the pistol has been 100% reliable and accurate in my hands, I have used it in informal matches at my local range.
The Chrome over Tennifer finish is very nicely done , the serrations are not as grippy as other, more on the slick side.
Fitment is appropriate for the price point. I have taken the pistol apart , the machining is nicely done , in my opinion a pleasant surprise.
Let try and break it down into sections:
Mag Compatibility:
The Grip:
- So far 99% of my various Glock mags have been working as expected, I did have an occasional sticky mag, this was an G2 mag, the G3,4 and 5 have been flawless and drop free.
- The supplied aftermarket mags have also been flawless.
- ETS mags are not compatible, they do not fit in the grip.
The Trigger:
- The grip module is interesting, not quite a 1911/2011 or Glock, but I find it interesting and if forces a higher grip. In my initial review I did record measurements between the Fusion vs the Staccato/Cheely Grip.
- The grip panel is a slick, the pattern does not really supply any traction, how ever they do sell grip tape with different textures which solved this issue/personal preference for me, Fusion now offers grip modules with a more aggressive pattern.
- The pistol came it a 4 pd pull(?), if remember correctly, but with a little tweaking it is now a crisp 2.5 pds
- I did notice the a aftermarket leaf spring required a little fitting to be placed properly.
Now the issues:
I will state I understand anything mechanical can and will break and have an occasional issue. My pistol was a very early model.
The pistol was supplied with 2 optic plates; I installed a the “RMR” type plate with a Holoson 407 from another pistol.
At 30FT I was shooting 8 inched low with the elevation maxed out, I then returned the optic to the original pistol and verified the optic was functioning as expected.
I contacted Fusion and corresponded with Bob S -CEO, they provided me with a RMA, a week later the pistol was returned with a impressive target.
I headed back to the range and the issue persisted.
Then I noticed a few influencers were hinting at shooting low with the optics, also a fellow Glock talker was having the exact issue.
Fusion kept deflecting it was an optic issue, which I explained to them NO it was not,
So off to the machine shop I went with a fellow shooter (machinist ) we determined the milling was the issue.
A simple optic shim elevating the rear of the optic was a quick and temporary fix. This was documented with pictures and video sent to Fusion.
They kept insisting the optic being an issue, referencing a influencer that claimed swapping the optics (both same brand but different model fixed the issue) Don’t trust YouTube shrills.
So I documented that I went to the range with 4 optics (2 Holosuns and 2 Cyelees) I used my G45MOS as control and started testing, as expected all 4 optics were functioning perfectly on the control pistol and all 4 needed elevation maxed out on the Fusion to impact 6-8 inches low a 30 Ft.
I spoke to Bob and team again, emailed them my test methods and results to prove the pistol was the issue. I offered to send the pistol back with 2 optics (1 Holosun -1 CyeLee and shim) They sent me a label and validated my testing.
They returned my pistol, optics ,shim and some swag, and stated they were working on a new optic plate to address the issue.
Its been a few months now, they have been providing me updates and pictures of plates being manufactured, the latest correspondence was that they were delayed with the final product do to new
product launches.
Now with the shim in place , the pistol has been great, but as I explained to Bob and team, the shim is a band aide to a problem and not what I paid for.
I have not heard or seen any other issues related to the optics cuts , I am assuming the QC issue was resolved.
If in fact it is resolved I would recommend the pistol.
