It's been the better part of a year since I made a firearm purchase, but has anybody else seen an increase in FFL transfer fees? It used to cost $25 to transfer, but now most, if not all of the local stores are charging about $50!

On a side note, I asked one of the stores about the increase and they said they're having to cover the cost of having to deal with the BATFE a lot more often nowadays. As in, they're getting pestered by them a lot more often.

The place I use is $30. They haven't raised their price in the two years I've been using them. There are cheaper FFLs in town, but I go there because they're close by and convenient. $20-$40 is the going rate for various dealers around town.

Dang...it may just be more cost-effective to order something locally and pay sales tax.

Mine just went up for $15 to $18 between May and October. Still not as harsh as a $50 transfer fee, though.

$40 around here no matter where I go.

You need to find a kitchen table FFL. Mine charges $10 for CHL holders. Same for police, fire & teachers. $20 otherwise.

My local gun shop, about 15 minutes away, charges $35 for a transfer. But the place I'd go to for a GSSF discounted glock is only 10 minutes away, and they charge $18 for transfers. About two months ago they were only $15, so hopefully they stick at $18 for a while.

Mine has always been $15.

My shop generally charges $35, but they do it for me for $25.
Yeah, with hundreds of buys, they better give you a discount.

$25 here thru independent guys, LGS ranges from $35-$50. One LGS taxes you on the value of the transferred firearm.

Are we talking transfer of a firearm from you to me, through an FFL?

If that's the case, my dealer charges $25.

If I buy a firearm from him, there is no transfer fee.

The shop I work at charges $25.00 for pistols or rifles but charges an additional $25.00 for each handgun because we have to do the multi gun paperwork for handguns and assault rifles. It's $25.00 for up to 5 rifles.
