In my opinion, the very best shooting
range/competition pistol for $1000 $1200 is the CZ Shadow 2 and I think it’s the best by a fairly decent margin.
It’s a heavy all steel pistol, as in over 45oz empty. It’s got a great design with awesome mechanical accuracy. The sights are excellent. The SA trigger is good. The DA trigger is smooth. The ergonomics and standard features, such as front and backstrap checkering, are outstanding. Recoil is minimal and it tracks back to zero very well.
The question comes up on forums about what to buy in the $1000 price range for target shooting from time to time and this has been my answer for a while now.
I know there are people who just hate DA/SA and may see it differently, but there’s no denying this pistol’s capabilities for a very affordable price. You can find them new below $1100 at times, with the optics ready model being a little more.
