What do you CZ guys think of the compact CZ 75? Looked one over real close at the gun store today and really liked it. I thought about putting a hold on it but wanted to see how ya 'll reviewed it first.
I just looked at one on Midway and the LGS has a better price even than they do.

OK fellas,,,I'm gonna consider all your suggestions and advice. I should keep learning more about CZ and perhaps not make a decision until I know all good options. I can not afford the upper level CZ's,,just don't have 1500 or so to buy a pistol with,,so It'll have to be a less expensive gun. But,,I'm'a lookin' and I"m sure I'll be bending ya ear again about choices !

Well,, I do shoot at the range some,,,and have a 'home made' range out back on my place...I don't do any competition shooting....I'm totally green as to what that encompasses in semi auto world....and feel I might be too old to consider it now. I've shot competition in other areas ,,at Friendship Indiana black powder shoots, area club flintlock longrifle shoots, SASS competition,,,,but never in the semi auto pistol area.
I wouldn't be against another full size pistol. Right now ,,in the semi auto world,,I have 7 carry guns,,compact to micro compact,,and only one full size g41 at the moment. So,,yea,,,I'd consider another full size gun,,,just for range shooting and such. I do not have a hammer fired pistol,,and haven't since I was into 1911's years and years ago. Not interested in going back to 1911's.
Right now I'm considering a Sig or CZ....any advice on models to explore...and your experience and opinions would be appreciated guys.
Oh,,one thing I should mention,,,racking the slide on the CZ today,,,it felt soooo smooth,,like it was on ball bearings or something lol,,,honest,,,it was a lot smoother than my Sigs or Glocks. I liked that.

I was able to pick up a CZ Shadow 2 orange in August, got a great deal at a Gun show.

The Shadow 2's(blue or orange) are really nice, heavy but it barely moves off target when shooting. It sounds like you have your carry needs taken care of so get something fun to shoot at the range. I have a couple of other nice pistols but if I had to take a shot at 15/20 yards I would choose the CZ. Like I said save up and get one of the Shadow models as opposed to the 75 compact. $1400/$2000 might seem like a lot for a pistol, until you shoot it.

ETA: I do not shoot competition and really have no plans to start.

I had a Compact 75D and it was a great shooting pistol. Accurate, reliable, well built. It's not a pocket gun by any means but it is a good pistol.
Around here I have seen used ones sell in the upper $500 to mid $600 range. They are worth it.

Was looking at the CZ 75 here. If I thought I could save the extra for a Shadow model before I melt down wanting a new gun lol...I have been looking at the Shadows tonight too,, ,gracious they are fine looking machines ! When I was working ,,,I bought several upper level firearms,,,I just have to be more careful now though. The Shadows are no more than I spent on the USFA's,,,a lot less than my Shiloh Sharps rifles...or my flintlocks I had built....and I'm sure they are worth every penny...but I had more money then. Do gun stores take grandkids in on trade ? LOL

Pretty hard to go wrong with a CZ 75. I have four full-size models and plan on getting more.

Neat gun. A local pawnshop had one and I just almost bought it, but the price was a bit high (pawnshops aren't really that cheap.) I used to watch a guy "zero" like a mug with one on Sunday mornings! Col. Cooper was right about them things.
I was a kid during the Cold War and am just programmed to not use "enemy" stuff- just can't quite get over that.

Go ahead and get it. You'll kick yourself later if you don't.
I have one with a pair of thin LOK grips that I've done a little trigger work on. It's definitely not a lightweight, but it's not exactly a boat anchor either. It's a smooth, soft shooter thanks to all the steel.
