I have a chance to purchase a CZ 1911 from my local gun shop but still cannot find any detailed reviews of the pistol. I have seen a couple of "unboxings" on youtube and I have read the marketing release but for a hair under $800 I would like to have been able to study up on it a little. If any of you guys have one, please post your thought on its reliability and craftsmanship. Thanks.

A question is that why do you like this over a Colt 70/80 series or Springfield Milspec? Also, are you ok with the roll marks? I can't answer either of those questions in favor of the CZ, so I haven't considered them

From what I have read, they are quality guns and the first run has been rumored to me assembled in the Dan Wesson department. That being said, they just don't have features I would like off the shelf and would be a base for a custom build

I handled 2 this weekend. It's better than a Colt. The roll marks are barely noticable.

No slide to frame play at all. It's as tight and solid feeling as a Dan Wesson Valor. Sights are acceptable. Finish was perfect. Thumb safety was stiff, but solid, I'm sure it'll loosen up some with use and lube. It's a ton of 1911 for $800.

Reminds me of a Turnbull, without the case hardening. The fact that I even thought of that while handling it, shows how good of a GI it really is.
