Cr920 recoil spring issues

Anyone having issues removing the recoil spring on the CR920? It looks like the butt of the guide rod is larger than the opening on the hole of the slide, so I can’t pull it out. To clean it, I had to wiggle out the barrel from underneath the recoil spring. Is there a trick to removing it?

I removed it with a nylon hammer, but the spring jams so I have to fiddle with it to un-jam it. It works fine but still annoying because it’s hard to remove. The plastic part is too big and gets stuck in the hole. Shadow systems is sending me a new recoil spring, hopefully the new one will fit properly. If not I’ll have to look at getting a Glock spring.

So… 5 weeks later and SS still hasn’t sent me the replacement recoil assembly. Been emailing them every 1-2 weeks for the recoil spring they keep promising to send. Anyone know if g43 recoil spring will fit?

I might just sell this at a loss and upgrade my p365xl with the new Icarus ACE Evo grip module. After 400 or so rounds of perfect reliability in my CR920, I had a pretty serious malfunction where the bullet got stuck under feed ramp and I can’t eject mag or rack slide. It could be due to the cheap ammo, but my CZ runs the same cheap ammo just fine.

I assume the G43 RSA will fit, but will ask around and post here what I find.
I had off-center light-strikes due to the gun being slightly out of battery. They got back to my email within 3 hours and said they'd send me a new RSA--but I'd rather not wait weeks or months.

In the beginning I only shot Belom 124g and everything was fine, so I thought my CR920 was pretty reliable. Turns out those are the only ammo that works fine. Then I tried Federal 115g, blazer brass 115g and 124g, pmc 115g, magtech 115g, cheap Turkish ammo… they all caused FTE and FTF.

Today I field stripped my cr920 and discovered that it didn’t have an extractor depressor plunger. Wtf? Is SS a different design? The extractor is also stuck, no matter how hard I press the safety plunger, it won’t budge. Shining a flashlight into the hole where the extractor depressor plunger should go, I saw the screw for my optics, so I’m guessing it doesn’t come with one. So how do I remove the extractor? Does it require removing the optics?

Edit: nevermind, watch a video on MR920 disassembly and they use a short extractor plunger. Disassembling the slide requires removing the optics.

I paid $1100 for my CR920. Commie state tax and also because I bought from a rip-off artist. I saw the CR920 from another seller for $750 a few months later. Still $150 over MSRP but then again, I bought a new g19 for $700 so that’s to be expected in this state. Even my MR920 was $1300!!! From now on I’m sticking to the established companies like Glock, Sig, Walther, and H&K.

I was having mad ftf but it turned out to be an oversprung recoil spring. After SS sent me a new recoil spring, I shot 100 rounds and let it sit in the safe with the slide locked for almost a month. After that, I fired over 400 rounds without malfunctions with all types of ammo. I’m still testing it, once I go 1000 rounds without malfunctions, I will feel comfortable carrying it.

Trigger is still terrible @ 6lbs, but I replaced it with an Overwatch trigger, which dropped it down to 5lbs. Now it’s an acceptable gun, but I still wish I never bought it because I spent unnecessary money to make it work as advertised.

You should contact SS, they are good about fixing issues. Worse case, they will send you a shipping label to send the gun back for inspection.

Hmmm, ok I’ll give the locking the slide for a couple of weeks and give it another go.
If the problem still exists, I’ll contact SS.
I also didn’t like the stock trigger. It was just ok.
I ended up replacing it as well.
Thanks for the slide lock info, I’ll give it a try.

I had been pretty excited for this model but didn’t want to be a “beta tester” for a new gun.

Glad I just stuck with the 365xl
