I (like many of you perhaps) just received yet another of the 300 emails per day, advertising something.

**Side note: why any company or vendor thinks that an individual wants to receive 2, 3 or more emails per day, every single day, in advertising format baffles me. It doesn’t make me want to buy anything from them and in fact infuriates me that anyone thinks that is behavior that isn’t just annoying.

Moving along though, I get these ads advertising any of the many mp5 type clones out there with prices ranging from $1500-$3000+.

What exactly makes these guns command this kind of money? I mean really with all due respect, so often they’re semi auto 9mm “pistol” type guns with w large mag. What makes these guns cost 3-4x the money as a mid range duty weapon?

I may be missing a bigger picture here and I’m happy to be schooled on the subject. I know many of them are off the line production pieces. I mean we’re not talking custom hand spec’d 1911 here? What is that all about?

I will have to shoot one at some point to see what the hoopla is about.

I’ve always been partial to PCC carbines (or Pcc braced pistols or sbrs) . I just always thought these looked a bit AKish and never could understand the price.

For that kind of money I always thought about things that were (in my mind) more unique or . Below is a braced pistol of mine. This one holds 30 rounds of 10mm (although now they make it in 9mm). The recoil mitigation makes it stay on target and little to no muzzle rise, but don’t let that fool you. With underwood 10mm it kicks surprisingly hard. I am interested in looking at the clones as the hk models are more $ than I spend on such.

I picked up an AP5-P recently on a whim for $1250. Since then the price has gone as low as $1000, which I think is relatively inexpensive. I’ve paid more for several handguns this year alone. An HK SP5 will cost you 3 times that. I did not know that the AP5 would be such a revelation. It’s looks fantastic, has run flawlessly for the first 600 rds, the recoil is nearly imperceptible and it is crazy accurate. With a green dot I can easily hit dead center at 25yds offhand. It is an absolute blast to shoot. Well worth the cost.
I really like how compact these look. If they’re as small in the hand as they seem I think id like to add one to the collection.
