I have found that reducing the area where the web of my hand wraps around a huge help in comfort and grip. On a stock g40 that area is fairly wide and shooting any significant amount or even a strong grip would generate sore spots on my strong hand. Any gun I have must be comfortable to grip and shoot. Some sand paper and time can make a big difference.

Okay, okay, I heading off in a new direction. I just ordered a Lone Wolf Timberwolf Large Configurator. With the straight backstrap it should be smaller than the stock Glock large frame. I can use the Glock 21 upper or the Glock 40 upper (both Gen 4s). It will cost less than modifying both frames and will not injure their resale value. I'll report back after my first trip to the range.

That's what I did. I use the hump/rounded back strap and the frame is still significantly smaller than an OEM large frame.

I ordered the smooth Timberwolf frame and had the tire tread pattern engraved on it. They said the tread pattern was the grippiest of their stock options.

Wow! shot the large Timberwolf frame with both the 21 and the 40 uppers. Happy camper here! In my opinion money better spent than Hacking up the stock frames. I was particularly happy with how the 40 performed. I was thinking about selling the 21 -- No more!
