COLT M4 LE6920MP-FDE vs. ROCK RIVER ARMS TACTICAL CAR UTE2

So I am in the market for an AR platform and have narrowed it down to a few affordable, yet reliable companies. I haven't found any Bravo Company rifles in the sub $1,000 area so this is what I've came across so far. Different colors for the Colt (what I'm leaning towards) but I'm thinking dark earth will be the winner.

I would appreciate any suggestions and opinions. Buying cheaper and building up was my plan, but I just got married Saturday, so it's budget for now. Thank you for the help in advance. I have several pistols and hunting long guns, but this is very new to me. Hours of research later, I still have questions!

Any of the first three.

RRA makes a decent rifle, but it'll never be a Colt.

I couldn't believe the pricing on the Colt's. When I was last looking, (2+ years ago) they were all in the $1500 range NIB. I can't afford that, but decided to look anyway, and was quite surprised. Is this decent pricing? Like I said, I had a wedding to pay for, so I haven't been in the purchasing faze for a while (minus the Buckmark I bought "for" my wife to learn with :whistling:)

I would guess that it all depends what you're looking for in an AR. The Colts that you have selected have nicer features than the basic A2 RRA. Personally of the options listed I like the flip up sights and no carry handle. Things to consider: Colt = MIL spec, RRA = not. Both good and bad depending on you're wants and needs. The RRA should be more accurate, and the Colt should be more reliable. That being said, if you plan on taking care of it and keeping it clean you should have no problem with reliability on a RRA. If you are going to be playing GI recon missions through water and desert sand, the Colt would be more fitting, though the eye candy effect of a dirty gun goes by the way side. I'm sure you have already made up your mind so the real question is.... which one should I buy out from under you.... hmm, I do like that dark earth! :) I wouldn't dare. Plus I think the LaRue PredatAR is more my style. Regardless, enjoy your new AR!

I don’t know what attracted you to those particular RRA’s. The first is used and IMHO, overpriced. Also, it has a fixed carry handle. This drastically limits your ability to use optics.
The second has the UTE upper where the rear sight is part of the upper receiver. This is less desirable than a removable sight because if it gets damaged or you just want something different, you have to swap out the upper receiver.
If those Colts are in your price range, pick the one you like best and go for it. In the long run, nobody ever regrets buying a quality product.

I work with a few guys that said RRA and BC make very good rifles at an affordable price. Colt was always what I preferred and are what the emergency response team carries, but I haven't seen them at this pricing before. Colt it is. Thanks all. I'll be sure to post a few pics after I get it and get to play some.

RRA doesn't even fit into the category that BC or Colt do. Bravo Company is top notch, right alongside Colt. RRA is more a hobby gun.
