CCW in Los Angeles

Hello everyone. I live in Los Angeles County...not Los Angeles City. Is it legal in LA County to obtain a CCW permit? I was doing some research on it and found one website that said there are no CCW's allowed in LA County, but other websites said there are.

Anyone have a definitive answer? Better yet...anyone in LA County have a CCW permit? If so, how did you go about obtaining one?

I would not be going there anyway with all the gang violence and sun dried nuts!!
I didn't really have a say in the matter. I was born and raised here in Los Angeles County. It's all I really know. With that being said, I do realize how absolutely absurd some of our laws are compared to the rest of the country. I wish it was more lenient here but that doesn't seem to be.

As a California resident, and a current CCW holder, I can tell you that CCW permits are legal in LA County. However, getting on is next to impossible. Your best bet is to move a little north to Kern County where they issue them pretty easily. But once you get a permit issued to you it is good for the entire state. Course there are restrictions like no federal buildings, no court houses, etc.
You mentioned that it is much easier to get a CCW in Kern County than it is in LA County. I don't suppose I'm allowed apply for a CCW in Kern County even though I reside in LA County? Do I have to live in the County that I'm being issued the CCW from?

My brother is a police officer in LA County...but I don't think that would help me in getting a CCW here.....or would it? :dunno: I asked him about the process of getting a CCW and he didn't know much about it.
