I'll be traveling to northern NY next week for a funeral (the Adirondacks) and was told recently that there are a few stores in the area that currently have some 9mm. I obviously won't take my Glock with me... but I was wondering if NY state law allows a non-resident to buy ammunition. It's still tough to find in central NC...

Thanks for any advice!

Not likely to happen at Walmart here without a NY permit. They're fascist in this state. Dick's Sporting Goods stores, Herb Philipson's stores and the Bass Pro in Auburn, NY are good to go. There's also small gun stores around that would help you out too. Depends on the area you're in.

Wouldn't it be a felony for anyone with out a NY permit to have ammo in there possesion now under the NY safe act? I do believe I read that in the law.:whistling: And see that you'll be passing through NYC on your way home - I'd highly advise against it!

Actually, Tiro, while I appreciate the help you so generously gave me by directing me to Google and typing in a question for me, 1) the answers in the list provided were not answers to the question I asked, and 2)with the sudden changes in state laws all over the country and ESPECIALLY in NY since Sandy Hook, many Google sites are no longer up-to-date. Which is why I asked the question of people who are dealing with this issue TODAY. But... I appreciate the help you attempted to provide.

And I especially appreciate the help from Camo and Gunnut. I'll wait and get supplies locally or on the Internet. Thanks, guys!

Regardless of the law I wouldn't spend one dollar I didn't have to spend in NY. I know you're going to a funeral but my suggestion would be to gas up before you cross the state line and bring most of your food.

Don't reward bad behavior and vote with your wallet.

the continual reward is exactly why the bad behavior continues; there is no consequence.
