Buying Guns Online - Tombstone Tactical

Hi, everyone. I'm giving serious consideration to buying a rifle online. I've never ordered a gun before, so I was wondering what your opinions were on the subject. Any downside to it? I think I've already found a trustworthy FFL holder on GunBroker. He lives two miles away from me and he sounded like a pretty decent person when I spoke to him. As far as I know, I'll save $50 if I buy the rifle from Tombstone Tactical instead of locally (Galveston/Houston area). Anyone ever deal with Tombstone? Here's a link to the gun I want to get:

I'm fine with the 5 round mag. I've already got some 30 rounders. Is that the best deal I'm likely to find on a new SGL21-61? Thanks for your anticipated replies.

That does not sound like a bad price on a new rifle. I found some high prices on GunBroker when I was looking. $25 is a going price around here for FFLs recieving guns. I ended up running into a nice used one locally on Friday with some extras locally so I lucked out. Nice rifle but wind has been blowing crazy here all weekend so have not fired mine yet. Looks like they have pretty good reviews from customers. Good Luck!!

That's what the FFL holder that I spoke to charges as well. Thanks, Zeker. Hope the wind dies down soon for ya.

I have not ordered from them, but looking at their site they seem to get their guns through Davidson's who I have ordered from. Davidson's usually has decent prices and gives a lifetime replacement warranty. You may want to look at ordering directly from them.

Is their website called galleryofguns.com? I just spoke to someone from that site who told me that their company only sells to dealers now. Did I get the right Davidson's?

They did ,however, have a very neat price comparison tool for all the local shops that they supply to, so it was definitely worth the visit.

That's the site. You select a gun, enter your zip, they give you a price, you pay a deposit and they give you a list of dealers in your area that will accept delivery. You then go to the dealer to finish the transaction.

I could very well be wrong :dunno: - but for some reason I thought that these Saiga rifles used special mags - that you could not use "normal" AK mags unless you modified the rifle -

Not that the modification is all that hard -

I would at least check it out before I bought it.

Yeah. To my understanding, the "plain Saiga" uses some sort of special mag, but the "Arsenal Saiga" uses regular AK mags.

It has to do with import restrictions I believe. :dunno: Somebody else probably knows a lot more about it than I do.

I would LOVE one of those! My Saiga-12 was the most fun I could have with clothes on! Now I realize the rifles are probably of much higher quality than the old WASR10s and Romanians and old commie junk like that. (They still always work anyway :tongueout:) I personally think 900 is a bit too steep for a full-stocked AK. Although I especially liked the wood stocked under(?)folder, it'll be a cold day in hell before I pay 2 grand for an AK:wow:

With shipping and FFL fee this would come out to exactly $816.11, still pretty steep IMO. But I've convinced myself that, although it's something I had always been able to live without, it has now somehow become a necessity.
I'm sure the rest of you can relate in one way or another.

I might throw on a Texas AK trigger and be done with modifications from then on. I've never been big into customizing anything, but I like the look of his fire control group and I'm always happy to help out a local firearms related business.

Every once in awhile I find a gun online I would like to buy. Problem is shipping to an FFL. There are 3 gun shops withing about a 25 mile radius from where I live. I have asked all of them (I've bought guns from 2 of them) if they will accept shipment, and how much do they charge for accepting shipment. ALL OF THEM said they will not accept shipment. They wouldn't explain, but I assume it's "buy their guns only" attitude. This is the first time I've run across that issue. Other places I've lived had no problem with it.
