Yes, bought in NJ, legal in NJ, as long as it doesn't say "AR-15", or have evil attachments.
My dealer is Kulak Arms in Lawrence. Rich is an awesome guy.

I got my first “Sporter” rifle in NJ. Pretty much need to comply with the now expired federal law. No flash hider, you can have a Comp but it must be welded. No bayonet lug, no adjustable stock. No mags over 10 rounds. Etc. Best to read the laws and buy from a competent shop.
