Building a longslide Glock 19, need opinions and a few more brains with their thinking caps on

Given the price of a G49 is about $620 at several places and you may be able to pick them up cheaper if you shop around, you’ll save $170 by your cost estimates. For that “savings” you run the risk of an unreliable firearm. Even if your build proves reliable, you’ll be investing in something that has little resale value should you decide to sell it later. Does your cost estimate include the cost of 3 magazines, which you’d get buying a new gun? Another factor to consider is if you bought the G49, you could buy a G45 down the road and you‘d have a G19, G49, G45, and a G17 given the ability to swap uppers and lowers. In the end, buying the G49 would be a better value and provide a more reliable firearm, in my opinion.

i hope you find the info you need on the build and wish you luck with it if you go that route.

Very good point. I went the Brownells route and am satisfied with what I have now, but due to a poor quality slide parts kit, I had to make a couple of extra range trips and about 4 extra boxes of ammo to achieve reliability. I already had a PSA frame, but had I had to purchase a frame for the slide, when I take in account the extra ammo and extra replacement parts for the slide, it would be a close call. If I include my time, probably not.
It’s fun building guns and I’ve done it in the past, but it’s almost impossible to build for less than buying a GLOCK without giving up quality.
