Got tired of the Ruger’s frames looking like jr high kid with rough file finished em so they went down the road. In the past had a Taurus 66 that was super accurate.
Also intrigued with having a 9mm revolver. So a Taurus 905
This thing came in on the cheap and blows my Ruger’s out of the water in fit and finish. And superb trigger for a carry gun. Highly recommend.
yeah, I know, here come the Taurus haters! lolol

Congratulations and enjoy.

The Taurus 85 series of snubbies (of which your 905 is a descendants) are the only guns from that maker I would be interested in. Have owned a couple in the past, they all performed adequately enough, and of course they're relatively inexpensive compared to "the Big Names".

I've heard their customer service isn't the best, but since neither of mine ever broke, I can't really say that's accurate.

Thanks for sharing it.

(And yes. I'd prefer your new 9mm Taurus over any R.R.R. (Ruger Rubber Revolver).

Nice find! Put it to the test and do a range report on it. I‘ve had several Taurus firearms and they have all been good guns, (unlike the Springfield XD9and Colt 6920 I had). I currently have PT 99 AF and a Model 65 3 inch revolver.

Just run a few dozen cylinders full before carrying it. I have personally fired (won't mention name here) revolvers in 9 and 40 that both failed to fire on several rounds - like a lot of rounds. The rounds do not have a rim to headspace on and short brass causes light primer strikes without a moon clip. Yes, I know semi-autos mostly headspace on the brass rim too, but they also have an extractor holding them in place. Just double check your carry ammo and the gun.

I own two Taurus revolvers a 856UL and a 856ULCH. The UL I sent back for warranty repair. Turn around wasn’t very long. It was repaired correctly when I got it back. It’s my headboard gun now. The CH is a pocket carry revolver. I believe you made a good choice. 👍

Sorry, but I would still pick the Ruger over any Taurus. But I like Ruger revolvers, so I'm biased. But even if I wasn't, they still have WAY better QC and CS than Taurus has ever demonstrated.

That being said, if I were to give my parents a revolver for self-defense, it would likely be a Taurus stainless 856 Defender, or a Taurus model 82 with a custom front sight of some sort. They aren't shooters, and my father does way better with a revolver than a semi-auto. It would be perfect for them since they aren't regular shooters, and therefore there is little danger of the gun taking too much abuse. And it's cheap enough to where I'm not out a huge portion and if it gets seized or stolen then it's not a huge loss.

I’ve been a Ruger fan since the 60s. Still own a Ruger MPR AR, Mini 14, GP100 and three Elite AR lowers. But their revolver quality of late sucks. The SP101 wouldn’t let .357 pass the throat with out a bunch of pressure. A few hundred rounds through a Super Blackhawk with standard 44m loads and the forcing cone was shot. And the frame finish was horrid. Shouldn’t happen to guns that expensive.

Very nice. Bought a couple Taurus 327 at the beginning of this month. And I'm looking to pick up the newly re-introduced 650 (357 mag)

Love mine, I have a CH85 its a "travel gun"...This is what I take when in traveling to states I dont want to look up all the rules for as far as mag limits and HP or NO HP ammo etc,etc... I know carrying this with HoneyBadger™ | Product categories | Black Hills Ammunition works and doesnt break any foolishness some **** states have

I'd like that even better if it was available matte black. Rossi made a run of them in a nice blue finish, a few years ago, and decent used ones are hard to find.

I’ve been toying with the idea one of one those 856’s since they came out. Another revolver is the last thing I need. Dont know why I think I need one.
Good luck with an 856 Defender. Mine failed to rotate, or would rotate intermittently, after round number 266. Sent it back to the mothership for repair twice, with no luck either time. Paid a bench fee and shipping costs on one of those occasions. Their repair capability stinks, in my opinion. (I told them it was the hand not rotating the cylinder properly, and they refused to believe me.) Finally, I paid a local gunsmith to replace the hand, and so far, after over 500 rounds, it has functioned well. It looked good and functioned well in the GS prior to purchase, but that didn't last long.

That’s been my concern with Taurus’ very recent turn around on their revolvers. If I should have any problems, should I even bother trying to send it in? IME their gunsmiths blow. I’ve had guns go back only to return with the same issue. Causing *me to wonder did they do anything at all? At this point I lean towards, if I have a problem with any of my Taurus revolvers. Repair will either be by me or my local gunsmith.

I briefly had a 905. Even before and after the Galloway springs I put into it, light strikes, FTF across several types of 9mm ball ammo; yes the included moon clips were used. I had hoped for better, as it would've been fun. I hope you're runs better. My other Taurus wheel gun experiences were fine.
