BEST (SLIMMEST) IWB HOLSTER FOR 19

Hey guys, this may be in the wrong forum category but my 43 has me spoiled so carrying the 19 seems "YUGE!" I figure if i can find the slimmest set up for the 19, it might see the light of day more often.

Looking for your vast opinions and experiences with various IWB holsters. I know some have the belt loop over the trigger guard which is supposed to thin the overall profile ect. others have "hybrid" set up with kydex on only one side, some use thicker kydex which is the opposite of what I'm thinking for my needs

Open to any and all options, my 11 year old Uncle Mikes neoprene "holster" is nearly destroyed at this point.

That holster is so thin it almost doesn't exist!

For all day comfort, the Kydex molded side married with leather is by far the *most* comfortable holster I have. The Comp-Tac MTac is the holster that I picked up that really is *that* comfortable. The Comp-Tac CTac is all Kydex, but has leather stand-offs that have the belt loops attached (close second to the MTac.

Those two for all day carry work best for my nearly 60 year old body. Funny how back in the day a G17 was *no problem* in a big old fat Galco IWB holster, but now that my lower back is "particular" I tend to carry appendix... Often in an Uncle Mike's #12 Softy for the G23, G27, and G30 (ya, all FIT, so all is well for a $12 holster!!!)

So if it's a *slim* holster you are looking for, the CTac all Kydex holster provides nice support in a thin package, and for all day comfort my vote is for the MTac holster.

PLEASE NOTE - Several companies are now making similar designs, and all should be really comparable. Pick the best price point for the style, and try it out!

Happy Shopping!

The best quality, most minimalist kydex holster I've found and love, is made by Tulster holsters. I'm slowly getting one for every gun I carry. They have the best attention to detail, and best fit of any holster I've tried yet. The gun solidly locks into the holster without needing to tighten the retention screw down very tight. That's the sign of a holster that's well fit for the gun.

Plus, no waiting around for 8 or 10 weeks for them to make you one. The last order I placed with them, I had a shipping notification in 35 minutes. They must be located right by the post office or something because that's crazy good. I can't recommend them enough.

I just bought a Don Hume IWB PCCH off a guy on this forum for my Glock 23. For a leather holster it's pretty thin. It holsters about a close to the same spot on my hip and rides identical to my Kramer belt scabbard. It has enough reinforcement to keep the mouth open that holstering is effortless.

A few years ago, I bought a "Mr. Softy" by High Noon Holsters used on eBay for my M36, and it also fit my &19 perfectly. It's an inexpensive holster that runs about $36 or so shipped, no wait. Been a few years since I bought a bunch of them so the price may be off. They sell them on eBay as well. I like these holsters, but will be replacing most of them soon with the Bell Charter Oak holster I'll mention below. These high noon Mr. Softy holsters arrive to me four days from ordering.

Again on eBay, I got a very nice like new Bell Charter Oak holster called the X-Treme Service IWB. The one I have for the M19 does not resemble their demo pic on their website as their site has another gun pictured and the holster is a different style. It's a slightly thicker leather than the "Mr. Softy" and formed to the gun. It's a good fit and the nice external finish of the holster is comfortable to my bare skin. I highly recommend this holster and I am slowly transitioning to these for some of my favorite pistols. There is usually a several month wait time and they are rare on eBay and gun broker.

I'll mention that another eBay find was an old discontinued Alessi model that was about as thick as the Mr. Softy and was made of flexible leather. It remains a staple for any 1911 or Hi Power and is a great holster. The Talon Alessi holster is made of stiff leather and is not bad but for all day carry, I like a minimal and flexible holster that provides excellent trigger coverage. I've yet to see another anywhere.

I've never seen an "old school" Bianchi Model 6 for the Glock 19, but it's possible the old Bianchi company made them for a year or told before being sold to Safariland, as I recall. But the Model 6 is a rough out suede for revolvers and pistols that really are comfortable AND the rough out suede helps keep the holster in place and lessen the "pulling down pants effect" with a heavier gun. I have numerous 1911 and various revolver sizes but fear this line for pistols was discontinued prior to the emergence of the Glock. I know Bianchi sells a Model 6 now, but it's not rough out soft suede and I find the difference noticeable in comfort.

I wish High Noon would offer a suede out version of the Mr. Softy.

I'll note that all of these holsters carry the grip at belt level, thus for me, maximizing concealability. Many folks like high rise concealment holsters but they don't work for me. I like the gun grip buried at the belt line where I don't have to wear an oversized untucked shirt/suit/jacket to conceal it. These holsters, although minimalistic in nature, pull the grip of the gun towards the body to maximize concealment.

I'm not a fan of any of the huge IWB belt "systems" that are 2 or 3 times the size of a Mr. Softy. I've had no problem with weight distribution using a thin holster and just a medium heavy belt, not a gun belt by any means.

My 2 cents.

I like any of the IWB holsters that use a wide, leather backing with a kydex holster portion. I'm using one made by Galco for my 19 and a Crossbreed for my 43. Seems to me the width of the slide is a more critical dimension than the holster used. (Meaning the 43 feels thinner IWB than the 19). I've recently lost about 3" off my waistline. Amazing how that affects my willingness to carry IWB. :) As always YMMV.

Agree.

I have a Kydex LightTuck IWB holster for all three of my EDC pistols (G30, G19 and Walther PPS M2), the most used of which is the G19. I think that it is damn near perfect for what it purports to do.

It covers exactly the amount of the G19 that it should and not a millimeter more or less. The trigger is covered completely on the both sides of the holster, as is the full length of the slide on the "inside" side - so as to prevent contact with bare skin - while on the "outside" side, the slide and full grip are uncovered beyond the trigger area. This is not an unusual layout, but Vedder executes it very well. Again, the thickness of the Kydex is not too thin to be strong and not too thick to still be feather light. The molded shape on all my pistols has been perfect, with great retention right out of the "box"; it's tight enough to firmly hold the holster upside down with pistol mounted inside and shake it pretty hard, without the firearm slipping out of the holster; yet the draw is positive and easy with no hang-ups whatsoever, and re-holstering happens with a positive and satisfyingly soft and tactile "click." It is fully adjustable for ride height, cant angle and retension pressure, with enough adjustability to meet my needs, and probably most everyone else's as well.

The LightTuck is about 50-60 dollars. It ships in three business days after any business day you order it. It is light weight, pretty much as slim and small as you can get without sacrificing a lot of other safety, functionality and durability factors, and easily tailored to your style of carry. I too find it really easy and comfortable to carry my G19 all day, sitting standing, walking, bending, even slowly running for a short while, when carrying IWB with the Vedder LightTuck.

This is no add. I don't get a damn thing from them ever, just the chance to buy their holsters at the same price as everyone else. I just think that when you find a company that does good work, you should recommend them to others. Of course, YMMV.

Yes, the Tulster is the same holster for AIWB and IWB. It has adjustable cant from a straight up, 0 degree cant to a 15 degree cant. I've run it both ways from a strong side, 3:30 to 5 o'clock position.

The clip is also one of my favorite designs, very solid lock onto my Bigfoot gunbelt, stays put, and I don't have to undress to take it off.

So I've looked up every single recommendation... you guys have some terrific info. So far the Rapid tuck by Vedder really appeals to me. It was one clip not two, so easier to throw on in a hurry or while seated in a car, it has pretty slim profile, and the comfort generally associated with "hybrid" type holster. The Stealthgear Venticor and the Crossbreed appear to be PREMIUM products with great reputations, and unfortunately prices that match that reputation. Plus I don't believe they offer a single clip type set up.

I've got two Vedder Light Tucks, one for my 19 and one for my 43. They're adjustable for cant, ride height, and retention, and they ship in 3 days. Pretty slim too, plus you get 30 days to check it out.

I have tried quite a few and finally settled on a iwb by concealment express good pricing and excellent customer service.

Ive spent hundreds on holsters still have not found one I would consider comfortable. they all have there advantages I'm still looking for one myself if you find the perfect one let me know. I do use a Romero and a crossbreed but they just dont quite do it for me.

Good luck,
