I have a chance at one for cheap, seeking folks who have owned one for opinions.
I have a Star BM, so I know parts scarcity is a PITA, but it appears I can at least find mags for the A70....hopefully it doesn't eat firing pins?:dunno:

I owned an Astra A70 9mm for a while and I enjoyed it. I probably only put 200 rounds through it but it shot to POA and went off every time I squeezed the trigger - it became my car gun because it was so small and handy (this was before I got a carry permit AND there weren't many good small 9mms around). I never noticed any undue wear on parts and only sold off because I was looking for a M1911A1 - I had bought it for $195 but sold it for $225 (but with 2 extra mags) and then bought a NIB Norinco M1911A1 for $255 that same day. That was a few years back..... :whistling:

The only other Spanish pistol that I owned was an Astra A80 9mm and I really liked that pistol. Alas, I got an offer on it that was too good to not take... :embarassed:

No experience with the A70 but I do have plenty of experience with the A75, A80 and A100. The later Astra pistols are highly under rated and are a great deal if you find one cheap.

Collectors should focus on the A100 as imported by Interarms since it was the final and most refined version of the pistol. Fans of the .45 will also be very pleased with these pistols in .45 ACP.

Great guns! I would still be carrying one if I could get parts.

I've got a pair of A75's. The 9mm is in the L (alloy frame) and much lighter. The .40 is the full steel frame. I picked them up cheap. They both use the same magazines.

I have never had a malfunction with either. They make great tackle/tool box guns.

Thanks!!!

It looks like a new development in the saga of the Star BM may put the A70 on hold. I found a parts source for the BM, so my plan is to put the $$ toward that.
I hope to get it up and running again, and a Dura/GunKote refinish will follow that.
STAR on "Spanish Pistol Forum" on Gunboards.com can obtain Star parts as well as parts for various other Spanish pistols. He is a collector and lives in Spain.

Another GT'er pointed that out to me, I'm actually going through 'Machine Gun Mike' it appears. Thank you though, any parts source on Stars is golden.
