I have the opportunity to buy an armco ak47 and it's in good shape. I can't find much information on the rifle and the only Ak I own is a wasr 10/63. This one is also an under folder. The owner doesn't know how much he can get for it, and I don't know how much is a fair price. What would you think would be a fair price for an armco ak. What I read is that it's a preban gun, which I know can bring more if it were in a ban state. But I live in a free state

I did a little research, which anyone can do, and found them selling for anywhere from $800-$850 in really good condition. They were made by Norinco and they have stamped receivers as opposed to the others which had milled receivers. Yes they are Pre-ban (circa 1989), but since there is no ban anymore, that is almost a moot point these days. I hope this helped somewhat.

Yea I've found OLD posts while researching, Prices ranged from 800-1800 but most of those posts were ~2008 or prior. Also I thought some of the NE states only allow semi auto guns and mags if they were pre-ban. Not sure of the rules, b/c down here, anything goes.

What do you think it's worth? Probably going to list it in the classifieds soon. But I'm wondering what's a fair price price without being too low, or being too offensive to list it at.

A pre-ban Chicom AK that isn't a Polytech Legend (a Legend would bring closer to $3-3500), $1800-2000 is what it would bring realistically IMO. I'd suggest the seller take some more detailed pics before selling. Armco was a relatively obscure importer that brought AKs in in the 1980s-early 90s. IIRC owner was nailed by the Feds for violating import laws at some point.

Appreciate a guy with some good preban AK knowledge!!! You know we replied to a dead 2014 posting? LOL

Got most preban Chinese in my collection, including the Clayco and Armco. BTW, a good condition Clayco just sold for $2499 on GB a couple of days ago. I thought it would hit $2800 the way people started bidding the last minute.

Sold my 1974 Dodge Challenger a couple of weeks ago and in part of the deal I acquired a Norico Ak under folder chambered in 5.56 and some rare 30 and 40 mags for it.

What do guys think it may be worth?

I would start at $1500 and see where it goes. I picked up a full stock one with one magazine here locally in AZ for $1200. The folders are rarer than the full stocks so... you have a nice piece there.
