The gun deff seems "locked" into my hand better, which seems it would help with controlling fast follow up shots / recoil.

I don't run the full backstraps, I run JUST the beavertails. I run them because:

A) like you have stated, your hand feels more locked in. Combined with the pinky index of a small magwell, and i gain aLOT of control over the firearm.

B) without it, with my large hands, the webbing between my thumb and index finger pokes up above the frame a bit, and the slide tears me up.

My Gen4s came with the extra backstraps and the extra backstraps with beaver tail. Where did you get just the beaver tail?

From my Dremel. I cut them just below the rear pin, works great.
