Anyone used Cajun Gunworks for an optic cut?

I have a non-optic-ready Shadow 2, and I'd really like to put an RMR on it.

Looking at Cajun's website, they offer that service for $165 if I don't need BUIS. I estimate that to sell my current S2 and then acquire a new OR S2, I'd be out about $500 considering the price difference, taxes, etc.

I've never heard anything bad about Cajun Gunworks, but I don't recall seeing any posts about their slide milling. If anyone has any experience, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Yes, Cajun Gun Works did the optic cut on my Shadow 2. It was a bit of a wait to send them the pistol but a very short turn around time after sending it in. The work was outstanding. I told them what optic I was going to install and didn't need to send the optic with it. It has been a while so I don't remember if I sent the slide or the entire pistol.

Wow. That looks great. Thanks for posting.

Their website doesn't go into a lot of detail, and I haven't called them yet to ask. If you don't mind, do you recall the following:

1. Did they refinish the cut area with bluing or similar?
2. Was there an option to leave or remove the front sight?
3. I was thinking of the 407C myself. Are you happy with that RMR? Would you choose it again?

Thanks.

I honestly don't remember what the slide looked like under the optic, I'm certain it wasn't bare metal.
Didn't give any thought to the front sight, have wondered since if they make a plate that would include a rear sight.
I like the optic, have this same one on a number of firearms. Big fan of the green dot.

Thanks for replying! Good info.

I don't think Cajun makes a plate with sight for the non-OR S2, but if I go that route, I'll call them to discuss all the options. They offer a BUIS option for certain RMR cuts, but it increases the price such that it's almost equal to the price of upgrading to an OR-ready S2.

There are rear site dovetail mounts for the S2. I'm giving that slight consideration as it would allow mounting an optic but allow returning to a steel site.

Thanks for this recommendation. I ran across their site before posting this, but their prices are in the range such that it's getting close to the cost difference of selling the non-OR S2 and acquiring an OR S2. Of course, this likely a case of you get what you pay for. And then I guess there's the whole debate of using a plate mount system vs. milling for specific footprint without a plate.

I'm on the list for a Cajun Gun Works slide cut, and this gives me pause. I love the company and its products, but I just don't want to risk one of my slides. CZ slides are not replaceable like Glock slides are. This is also a problem I have with CZ - they should have P01s, SP01s, P07s, and P09s with optic cuts from the factory.
