I did a search and did not find anything on it. PCC is becoming a "thing" in the local matches. I did not want to devote the time and effort to building an AR15 style special purpose rifle that takes special magazines, so I bought the Ruger. The open sights were well regulated out of the box, and I put a dot sight on it. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it in a match setting as either a user or observer.

Biggest difference with an AR platform is you can put in awesome triggers from lots of aftermarket vendors. The Ruger comes with the trigger it comes with.... I run a JRC, which is a hybrid design, sorta of a cross between a Savage screw barrel, and a Ruger 22/45 bolt, but with an AR trigger group. 1/3 the price of a JP, but it's not JP by any means. All the GM's and Masters are gunning AR platforms in PCC Divsion.

If there’s enough interest, that could change. Just look at what’s available for the 10/22.

I really think and hope this is going to change over the next year. I can see the new Ruger PC carbine becoming similar to the 10/22 in aftermarket support.

I definitely agree that currently the AR platforms seem to be the norm.

Anyways, I just put the new Ruger on hold this afternoon at my local Sportsmans Warehouse and will pick it up in the morning. Pretty excited about that.

It will be with me at the next speed steel match even if it just has a dumb ole Bushnell TRS-25 sight on it.

Then again I'm goofy enough to shoot a Sub 2k in competition and have ripped some sub 2 second 5 shot strings with it in 40S&W.

As I understand it, the FCG in the Ruger PC is a 10/22 FCG. If that is the case, lotsa aftermarket stuff is available.

It is a very similar build design, but not interchangeable. You can't knock the pins out of a 10/22 trigger group and put it into the carbine.

Thanks, Mr. Black. Not having one to compare, I stand corrected. They do look very similar.

LOL, me too. I had it in the truck last month when they said we could re-shoot every stage in a Defensive Pistol match with a PCC. I didn't have any 33 round magazines with me and the gun doesn't have an optic, so let's just say it was a challenge. In fact, I did a smidge better with my pistol on the same courses of fire. So far, I can tell that the Ruger is a much better platform. I was supposed to shoot it today but the match got canceled due to snow. I will use it in a Defensive Pistol match next week and should see an improvement, especially with the Sig Romeo5 that I threw on the gun. We'll see.

Picked up the new PC Carbine yesterday morning. 499 plus tax out the door. Had a store coupon so that is the reason for the awesome price.

First thoughts, HOLY CRAP this thing is heavy for what it is. Not to worried about it though. I literally will likely only shoot this thing for local club steel matches. I would like to buy a bunch of 30 round ETS mags for it and make sure it will run near 100%.

Now I just need to figure out what I want to put on it for a dot. and the hard part for me is figuring out the height of the optic. I might possibly buy a C-More for it. I also have a Deltapoint Pro on my 17L that I have been wanting to try a C-More on with a Carver mount. That would free up the Deltapoint Pro for the PC carbine. Ahhhhh too many choices!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year I tried shooting my 40S&W Sub2k in local steel match with irons and I did pretty bad. I was using a RLP front sight and the stock rear peep sight and was having a hell of a time picking up the targets. I even tried opening up the rear peep hole as large as I could to help picking up the targets to no real gain. I was shooting 3-5 second 5 shot strings which like you I was beating a lot of those stage times with my pistol.

I finally made a command decision to just mod the hell out of it and do what ever it took to get a dot on there. So it went from basically stock to Full Mcarbo internals. Flat faced trigger. RLP rail and just an inexpensive TRS-25 dot. Next match out a lot of those same 5 shot strings were from 1.8 seconds to around 3 seconds. That's miraculous for me as a pro shooter I am not lol.

I thought the new Ruger PCCs had a 10/22 firing group given some of their pre-release media and their own website. I am sure Volq will start producing in short order. If so, that will make them easier to work on than an AR build if you do not have drop in groups. I do not see why Ruger rifles would not be used. They have fallen out of favor with me, but a lot of people still like Rugers.

I ran mine in our local "action pistol" match beginning of the month and plan to run it again at the end of the month. I only had about 250 rounds thru it prior to the match, but it had functioned perfect.

At the match, I ran a brand new glock 33 round mag and had multiple failure to feeds. I swapped to a different mag halfway thru match and didn't have any more issues.

Got it out a couple days ago to try and pinpoint that the feeding issues were mag related and not ammo related, and test the new Taccom extension. I ran 2 full mags with the Taccom ext as well as 2 33rd glock mags that all functioned properly with the same ammo I used in the match. I have been using 115gr factory ammo, but ran a box of 124gr and a box of 147gr thru it. The 124 seemed much smoother and is what I plan to use in the next match.

FWIW, I have heard a report or two that ETS mags have given the Ruger PC some problems, but I don't have any first hand experience yet. I do run the 22rd ETS mags in my 34 and haven't had any issues in it.

I have about 700 rounds thru the Ruger now. We'll see what happens at the next match.
