Good luck.

The first week of September, I was supposed to train with Mike Pannone and Kyle Raisbeck. A week before the class, I still hadn't heard where to meet. Upon making contact, I was told, in an email, that the class was just not going to happen, at that time and they would reschedule it. No reason was given, and I hope nothing bad happened-though, I would guess they don't just cancel, out of the blue. I was provided a refund a couple of weeks later. My disappointment level was quite high.

The second week of October, I was supposed to go through TMACS pistol and carbine (4 days) with Pat McNamara. That got cancelled ten days before the class was to go. Reason was: one agency was going to send five guys (out of 14) and cancelled. This wasn't hosted through Alias. Even though there was a waiting list, the decision was made to cancel the whole thing. I had 11 days notice.

My disappointment level here was even higher. Not because I valued the training more, but because I have 2,000 rounds of ammunition I bought, just for the class. Of course, I don't mind having the ammo, but I would have been better off having the several hundreds of dollars, than the ammo on the shelf. Then, there's the time off I took and moving other people's schedules, for nothing.

I'm hoping they both try again, this time, with the idea that cancelling less than 30 days before the class start date means you only get part of your refund back. I'm really pissed at the agency that pulled their guys. Part of integrity is dong what you say you will do. They screwed all nine of us who were paid up and five guys who were on the list and willing to follow through. I can only imagine how pissed their guys are.

I'm still waiting on my TMACS refund-$1,100.

I'm sure they provide great training-if you can get them to show up.

I would imagine an agency that pulls 5 guys had an operational requirement vice a lack of integrity. I do empathize however, I know when I take want to take a class, I would be upset if it was cancelled.

So are you saying you do not get a full refund? Do you get credit to another class?

I have not received the refund, yet. I'm sure I will, though, I wish it had arrived, already.

That sucks. This was my third Alias class (2 with Pannone, 1 with Gonzales) and have never run into this issue.

Having said that, I know from the monthly CSAT newsletters that Paul Howe has run into this issue with Federal LE types backing out at the last minute. So, he's changed his policy, which I believe is now that no Federal LE at his place unless they pay their own way. Might be the same for larger out of state state and local LE as well. It costs him money and takes away spots from others.

I know many of these guys to be honorable men. While we all have to feed our families, we also have to serve or customers. It sounds like Paul Howe made a good business decision.

I recently took a Pat McNamara TMACS class and about 1/2 the class was from a major midwest PD SWAT Team. I think they said they were being reimbursed, though, as opposed to a mass purchase.

Seems with sick kids, family issues and operational requirements, reimbursement for government attendees is better for everyone involved.
