Will toilet bowl cleaner effectively remove the nitrate finish?

The idea being that very little polishing would be needed to achieve a dull grey/charcoal finish. Or perhaps, its just best to start with a mild compound and some elbow grease? I was hoping for a more even effect (ie. dipping)
I have no idea regarding the toilet bowl cleaner but I can tell you glock slides are far from flat. If you pollish without getting it flat first then it will be wavey as hell. If you dont want a mirror shine then you'll never see the waves. If you want a satin look then I would go through the steps with Wet/Dry sand paper starting with about a 600 and work your way down to 1000 or 1500 and skip the pollishing at the end. You'll end up with a smooth satin look. Hope this answered your question..
