My dad picked up a few sets of these at a local gun show and gave me a few to test and see what they did. As you can see in the second shot of the video, at impact there is an initial spark, and then about 10 feet away or so there is an actual blast. Is there any practical use for these other than fun factor?

Yes, starting forest fires - which is why most ranges ban incendiary rounds.

Practical? No.

They aren't what I'd want for training purposes, certainly not what I'd want for SD/HD ammo, and I'd probably lose my private range membership if I shot that stuff there.

Dunno... my range allows Tannerite, full auto weapons including mini-guns, .50 cal rounds, and cannons, but not tracers or this type of projectile - even in the Florida monsoon season. An errant round can travel a couple of miles where something is more than dry enough to cause problems.

 

I just love the fact that trying them out was caught on film. Think of all the chances for mayhem with these.

 

Pretty cool and definately a fun factor item. Might want to double check your state laws to be sure they're legal.

Those seem like they're fun for s***s and giggles, but I wouldn't use them in a self defense situation, or any other situation other than a range.

I was thinkin coleman camp stove tanks would be pretty neat, honestly, from a very fair distance.

I think SARDG nailed it pretty well. :whistling: I WOULD NOT load them into my gun & or magazine, untill I was at the range & ready to shoot.

Like your video shows, they'd probably be a lot of fun to shoot, but I'd be REALLY careful where I did shoot them.

I watched the myth busters and later Sons of Guns (ugh) where they shot the tanks to mimic James Bond. Can't say I was overly surprised that the pistols wouldn't penetrate.

 

Got over that when I was 17.
