I am getting old and lazy and going to include my 642 in my carry rotation. I haven’t used it for years and wondering what’s out there for grips, so I thought I would post here to see what grips people are using?
I‘m thinking rubber.

I like the Uncle Mike’s boot grips, but they’re no longer made. You can find them in n eBay and other places. But they’re cut well to allow use of speedloaders.

I also like the classic Magna’s and grip adapter (I use BK adapters)

If I wanted to get something current, I would probably check out the Hogue Bantams. I like exposed back straps and keeping the grips minimal.

Hogue Bantams on a 637. I add a short strip of rubberized Talon grip material down the backstrap, which makes it much easier to fish out of a pocket and improves control as well.

I know I have more than one set of Uncle Mikes boot grips in my drawer, gun box, and holster box I believe. I just seen them on e-bay for 50.00, wow. I have two 642s and had other j-frames I got rid of and a few had those on. I took one set off my wife’s 642 to put a set of CT grips on.
Both 642s have larger grips on them now.

I buy up those boot grips whenever I see them for a decent price. Another J Frame is always in my future and love the grips

pachmayr compac...

these cover backstrap and have helped quite a bit with one-handed practice. footprint is slightly more than compac pro, but have never had an issue with iwb and t-shirt or tanktop.

I know I have a set of them somewhere, they were my favorites when I had a 640 .357. I guess I’m going to have to dig around in some boxes to see what I have.

I always liked the Uncle Mike’s Grips best. Once my hands got old the Uncle Mike’s didn’t work for me at the Range. I switched to Pachmayr Compacts and I’ve also used Hogue Tamers. They both fit my pockets and work great for the Range. I switch them around and since these pictures everything has the Pachmayrs.

Back to using those with my S&W Model 38 Bodyguard (original Airweight Bodyguard) - have used a bunch of different grips on snubbies over the years. A while back I purchased a pair of the ALTAMONT, Falconia Boot Grip for it, but didn't really care for it. I did have as pair of Spegel Boot grips for one of my old snubbies some time back, liked them a lot - would order one again but there is a long waiting period.

Uncle Mike's also made a three-finger grip for the J-frame RB. It's significantly longer, but really helps with control if needed.
They are probably a better choice on a coat-pocket snubbie than on a deep-concealment or holstered-under-a-T-shirt piece.
