Lots of luck....I can't even find wadcutter molds now....so gotta use an extra 10 grains and pour 158 grain round nosed for.38 bullets.

Well if you handload I see 148 grain hollow base wadcutters at Academy Sports now... just add 2.7 to 2.9 grains of bullseye powder and you are good to go.

 

It appears that the only calibers being made are the 9mm and .40, everything else is rare .380 has simply disappeared. It has been months since I have seen .380 anywhere on or off line.

 

Will this work? The number is 4617.

 

I buy bullets from Summers Enterprises and roll my own. $35/50 makes me cringe. I think my cost per 50 when reloading fired cases (using OLD primer prices) is something like $6.

 

I don’t reload, looking for ready to pop self defense .38 Special Wadcutters. And yeah, I realize it’s a stretch.

I have used these Bayou Bullets for loading 38 Special. They are Hi-Tek coated 138 grain button nose. Not too pricey and the guns stay cleaner than with lead wadcutters.

Thanks for the replies. I found some at Buffalo Bore but had to pass. A box of 20 would have been $55, almost half of which was freight.

 

Just handload... 148 grain BBWC at 750fps will do fine. I see WC .38s now and then at gun shops. LuckyGunner has lots of info on the WC load. Excellent penetration and a solid .357 hole strait through the gel. It actually is a good self defense load as well as a target and small game load.
