I own a bare bones M&P 10, which currently has a 1:10 twist barrel. Part of the upgrades I want is a better barrel, the one I found looks nice, but utilizes a 1:12 twist rate, how will this influence the ammunition I can shoot? The ammunition I shoot is in the normal 147-180 grain range. What other barrels do you guys recommend? I want something in the 18-20 inch range, I looked at the Spikes barrel initially because I have good experience with their 5.56 barrel. I will link it below.

1-12 twist may not be useful from a 16 or 18 barrel. But a bolt rifle with a 24" plus barrel might be what you want a 1-12 twist for when shooting at 1000 yards .

Stay with a 1-10 twist for an AR10

If you check out Criterion Barrels you can find other options like 1-11 20" and chrome lined that tend to be moa and better shooters also . I've been very pleased with there barrels in 223 wylde over some years now .
