Anybody know anything about the 10mm case being necked down to .22 and being chambered in a Glock 20?

I have long been a fan of the 7.62x25 and a 10mm case necked to .30 would also be a good one.

The .22 should push a 45 grain bullet close to 2000 fps or better and outperform the 5.7FN.

Thoughts or experiences?

PS: I just read the 223 thread.

I guess there isn't a common wildcat for this round?

For a lot of field purposes a truly fast .223 handgun has a lot going for it, and the fullsize 10mm seems a great basic case from which to work on.

Have a look at the lowest "stickied" thread on the 10 ring forum - titled "Hey Tazz, hows the .223xr coming?" or similar.

There was a cartridge developed called the .224BOZ which was actually the 10mm cartridge necked down to accept the .224 bullets, originally as posible military application. This would be my choice to be my next adaptation...

Also 7.62x25mm Tokarev seems like it would be great for the 10mm platform the COAL is too long @ 1.300", so COAL would need to be adjusted to 1.250" or 1.260" to fit magazines and function from the 10mm platform. Rim thickness of this cartridge is ever so slightly thicker(0.51" vs. 0.50" for the 10mm) and may not pose a problem to extractors.

However someone like Dillon could produce a die set to neck the actual 10mm cartridge case down to 30 cal or 22 cal would make for some neat WILDCATS. Barrels also could be produced to accompany such a cartridge configurations fairly easliy.

The use of pointed projectiles would need some experimenting to maintain proper feeding and function.

So for now I play with the 9x25 Dillon cartridges to satisfy the need for speed!

Have you ever thought about loading a a saboted .22 in 9 x 25 Dillon?

6.5mm in a sabot. I don't like bottleneck pistol cartridges much.

Thing is, I looked all over for .40 sabots and don't believe I ever found any.

Kegs I remember all to well...I have looked for sabots many times including today again. No 40 cal specific sabots avalible.

The sabots made for the 30 caliber high powdered rifles which hold the .224" bullets if made to fit 40 or 357 would be a nice product

The 36 cal sabot by MMP holds a .311 bullet and could be made to possibly work in the 9x25 Dillon. However due to its design(thin soft flexiable petals) I can see where modifications to them would be needed for better feeding. Wish they made sabots specificlly for this senerio but the cost would not pan out vs. conventional bullets being used.

Oh well maybe someday!

The 9x25 is also interesting.

The sabots would have a bunch of uses, not the least would be holding .30 caliber tracer. We used .30 tracers in our 7.62x25's for signalling in the mountains in winter {no other time...fire hazard}.

Here's one.

Yeah, you can see the bullet's yaw in flight.

hard to find a lot of info on the .224BOZ, it's a propriatary round, developed for military applications, will defeat most normal body armor, in a G20, think of it as a 15 shot, semi auto .221 FireBall.
2 or 3 steps to reform the brass if I remember. There are other rounds that are extremely similar, the name ".224BOZ" is trademarked.

If loaded with the Hornady 90 grain XTP bullets the 7.62x25 Tok round will fit nicely length wise in a Glock 20, the problem is, no one that I know of makes a 38 super or 9x23 magazine for the Glock 20.
If you know of someone who does let me know!
