I was at a LGS today ... Having sights changed on my Glock 20, while waiting.. I asked to see a few pistols...killing time ... While handling a 19x the store owner told me the 17x will be coming out in a few months....

I told him I was unaware of such a pistol.... He told me it was a 17 slide on a 19 frame ...
I thought he was joking... But he was serious...

Any of you guys or gals heard of such a bird ?

While at the Shot Show this year they didn't have anything like this. Usually they unveil new products to dealers that will be coming out in the year but who knows maybe with the hit of the 19x they will make that happen.:2gun:

Could work with the shared Gen5 locking lug geometry. Wouldn't work for Gen4.

That's true, but if you recall the G43 was a no-show at SHOT and came out for the NRA show. That being said, I can't think of any big show in the next couple of months for any kind of big unveiling...

It is what a lot of people seem to want. I can't imagine why.

I guess a more concealable 17 , with the 19 length grip..
I don't see myself purchaseing one... I mostly carry a 27 .
I get the grip length, but combining that with a longer slide is for people who learned about shooting from the internet. Longer slide for a self-defense gun is all down side and no advantage. 26 slide on a 19 frame would make more sense.

The chatter and excitement for a 17X would be luke warm [at best] compared to the 19X.

That configuration would be of no interest to military, Law enforcement or the large home defense market.

That leaves the concealed carry market, and only a small portion [of that market] would be willing to carry a weapon that size.

And an even smaller portion of that market would give up a standard G19 for a 17X.

I don't see the point of it. It wouldn't balance as nicely as a 19 or a 17 or a 19x which has the best balance of all three, and all you'd be be gaining is a half an inch of barrel.

It's not as though the 19 has a 4 inch barrel and the 17 has a 5 inch barrel, the difference is only a half an inch. That makes very little difference in velocity or sight picture but it makes a huge difference in the way the gun balances in the hand.

Velocities gan or lose per inch of barrel plus or minus 50 fps. for a half inch of barrel that's only 25 fps and three can be that much difference between two guns of the SAME barel length.

Just about every Glock hater said they wanted the mentioned 17X, so I disagree a little. I want a 19X, but don’t need one, would actually really like the 17X version and may buy one! I love Glocks though no matter what.

The only thing left that I really want probably won't even happen. I would love to have a single stack 10mm as close to the size of the G36 as they can get it. I understand the grip would have to be bigger around but keep the rest of it the same size or as close as possible.
