I have some nice 1911's but a have read mostly good things about the Tisas 1911's. So I bought the 9mm Double Stack Carry. Picked it up a couple of days ago. Looked good from the outside. Even had my FFL look it over. Looked good. Well I got home and broke it down to clean it. That where the trouble began.
The barrel had marks all over it. I sent pictures to the place I bought it from and they said it was chattering marks when the barrel was machined. These aren't just scratches. You can feel them with your fingertips in the metal. Rest of the gun is finished beautifully. So I contacted SDS and they sent me an RMA after they saw the pictures. Read the warranty and it is guaranteed for one year for problems in the gun or defects in workmanship.
So here is what I am wondering. Also had a gunsmith look at it and he said the same thing as the place I bought it from. Chattering from the machining of the barrel. So the problem? In the warranty they said it does not cover scratches. In my mind chattering during machining is poor workmanship. I have 20 year old 1911's whose barrels look a lot better than this.
So I wonder if I send it back are they just going to say it's cosmetic, live with it. Again I did sent them pictures of it though.
Before anyone starts it is not a matter of getting scratches on a gun. Guns get scratched from use. This is bad machining from the factory. Inside of the barrel looks good. Just looking for opinions on rather it's worth sending back to have them say it's cosmetic. Thoughts?
