I have shot thousands of my own reloads using S&B small pistol primers, and it did force me to put a heavier striker spring in one of my guns, but that gun is known for having a slightly weaker striker spring from the factory than most guns like it. So short answer is “yes.” I got the primers on sale at Cabelas a few short years ago (but a lifetime ago) for $20 per brick, so you can see why I decided it was worth replacing the striker spring.
