I’m a big fan of the A01 line of pistols from CZ Custom. This line of guns are not modified CZ’s, like most guns from CZ Custom. The A01 line is actually built from scratch in Arizona on a forged frame (CZ’s are cast) and build quality is a nice step up from anything I’ve seen from CZ.
The A01-LD is the long dust cover model, hence the “LD” tag. This one takes that a step farther, being the LTD version (LTD standing for Limited). In Limited competition fashion, it’s SAO and has a large magwell. The hard chrome finish is standard, which is fine with me because its generally my favorite finish. The Limited model also has an undercut trigger guard that isn’t present on the standard A01-LD.
This one was built in 2021 and chambered in 357 Sig, which they no longer offer. Today it’s just 9mm or 40S&W. I do have two other A01-LD pistols both chambered in 9mm, so I think the 357 version is cool. These are very accurate, soft shooting pistols and I’d expect 357 Sig to feel like a soft 9mm.
The gun is all steel and weighs a whopping 53oz with an empty magazine. Being a lover of heavy range pistols, this is also fine with me. The trigger breaks at a crisp 2 lbs and feels outstanding. While not quite as nice of a trigger as that of a Phoenix Drake or Redback, its definitely nicer than that of a CZ Tactical Sport or Czechmate. The rear sight is fully adjustable and the front sight is a red fiber optic, which I also prefer.
Overall, I absolutely love the gun and I’m looking forward to getting it to the range. Its stunning to look at and my past experience with these pistols tells me it will shoot lights out. I may call CZ Custom and get myself a 40S&W barrel for it to enable me to shoot it more often. That being said, I have the other two in 9mm anyway, so its not a big deal if this one is more of a queen.
Who here has an A01-LD? What do you think of it?
As always, please enjoy the pics and share your thoughts.
Thanks!
