Front Sight Crooked?

Installed Ameriglos on my 43x a few months back. I thought the front sight was a little crooked, BUT I figured it wouldn’t make an enormous difference.

However, when I go to the range, I tend to get shots to the left going past 10 yards. NOW I’ve been rusty, so maybe it’s just me being out of practice, but I can usually hold a hood sight picture and get multiple shots exactly where I want them. Would the picture below make a huge difference, or should I reinstall the front sights?

I usually just hold the front sight straight with my thumb while tightening the screw down and then double checking it before tightening it all the way.

There should be a bit of play you can use to straighten it out before tightening it all the way down.

One of my installs came out the same.
What are yall using to eat the old location?
I just feared stripping that micro nut

It took me a couple tries to get it perfectly straight. Just eyeball it. But i would take the screw out and apply red loctite at the tip of the screw. My newest sight has a fiber optic, the screw whole goes thru, so i needed to hold the slide upright to keep the loctite from leaking into the fiber optic.

Thanks! Took it off, cleaned with alcohol as best as I could, reset it and pressed with my thumb when applying torque.

I had seen this done two ways. 1: someone held a metal straightedge to keep the sight straight, 2: no pressure is needed because the sight should fit the hole perfectly.

1 is the correct way, there is a lot of wiggle with the sight in the hole 🤷🏻‍♂️. Now to let the loctite set!

As you tighten it down, use a plastic ruler up against the side of the sight to make sure it's straight to the slide. Don't use Loctite under the sight itself, it's a mess to clean up and might damage the finish. A very small dab of black rtv underneath will hold it rock solid after it sets into place and cleans up easily later, if the site needs to be removed.

I had an ameriglo sight that wiggled a lot in the hole. Called Ameriglo and they said it should snap in pretty tight, not much wiggle if any. They sent me a new sight that snapped in. Might be worth a call.

edit: the blue loctite I originally had on the wiggly site didn’t hold, so that’s why I called Ameriglo and asked for their advice. They advised new sight. Sent free.

I had an Ameriglo front sight do the same, but the sight itself was made wrong and would not rotate into position. The natural position was way off and when rotated as far as it would go, it was still several degrees off to the point that the sight aligned with the right rear sight dot on my G17. I happened to order two sets at the same time for the G17 and my wife's G19, so I switched the front sight to the other one and it was perfectly straight. I bought them through Amazon Prime with free returns, so I called customer service to get a refund. They said could not issue a refund on Ameriglo products and I had to deal directly with Ameriglo, so they started a three-way call with the manufacturer. After explaining the situation, Ameriglo finally agreed to send a replacement, but only after I paid to ship their crap back. I will never buy another Ameriglo product. I didn't even want another set at that point and I could not get a refund, so I still have the crooked sight as I didn't want to spend even more money to get a new sight I don't want.
