Does anyone own both of these pistols or at least have any time comparing them? I used to own a G33 but I sold it after a year. I carried a G26 for many years and still prefer it for a subcompact, but I didn't like shooting the G33 with a two-finger hold. I do love my SIG P229 chambered in .357 SIG, however, but I haven't shot a G31 or G32 and was wondering how they compare to each other as well as the P229.

Have owned 31, 32, and 33. Comparing them, I’d say their relationship to each other is precisely the same at the 17, 19, 26 or the 22, 23, 27 guns. All depends what you want or need the gun for.

I know that’s not terribly helpful, but really the only difference between those three sizes in any given caliber is basically a little bit of recoil. If you want to conceal it, go smaller. If you want more capacity or a longer barrel, go bigger.

If you want a general purpose 357 Sig for most non-duty uses I’d recommend the 32 without hesitation.

26/27/33 have the same frame size. 2- 2 1/2finger on grip
19/23/32 have the same frame size. 3 finger grip
17/22/31 have the same frame size 3 finger grip.

Get a pearce +2 magazine base plate and put on g33, then you can get all fingers comfortably on grip. Or use a g31/32 magazine in the g33.

Really no difference between g31 & g32, other than barrel/slide length, which could make IWB carry a bit more challenging

I have a 22, 23, and 27. The 22 is my night stand gun and I alternate between the 23 and 27 for carry, but most often I carry the 27.

The truth is for me that those differences are magnified because of the .357 SIG cartridge, and I guess the only way for me to know is to rent and fire them alongside 9mm Glocks and my P229. At some point I draw a line. The G33 is over it. With a little less recoil/muzzle flip (a G32), or even still a little less recoil/muzzle flip (a G31), one or both of them might fall behind the line one way or another, and that's my point. The G33 is my base line, and whether the recoil and muzzle blast of the other two cross it is what I'm trying to figure out. Anyway, thanks for you input.

I have the 17, 19 and 26 so I am doing the same thing. Plus one holster I can use for all three.

I am very familiar with Glock pistols (more than most). I just haven't fired all of them.

I had practically every extension you can get for a G26/27/33 at the time, including a G31 mag with a grip extension and it still was harder to control than I'd like.

It depend on the shooter. Many people comparing the G17 and G19, including me, can tell a difference (though it's not much I grant you). Just the other day I was watching a video and Taran Butler commented on how he felt the G17 shoots better than a G19, for example. .357 SIG will compound those differences for most people.

Thanks for the great first hand critique. I'm thinking 31 for HD.

I do slightly prefer the full length grip so I would do the G31, that's actually the only 357 SIG Glock (gen4) I've ever owned, it shot well but to me it's a pricey round to shoot much.

I’ve had the gen3 31/32/33 for many years (we switched to gen3 31s back in 2008) and I always found the 33 more pleasant to shoot than my 32 for some reason. I also have a P229 and P239 in 357. Obviously the P229 is a softie compared to the Glocks. I ended up selling the 33 to a coworker for $200 so she’d have an off duty weapon. I’m still carrying my ancient 32 off duty. We switched to gen4 31s with Trijicon RMRs a few years ago.
i haven’t found the need to buy another 33 or a gen4 32.

Understand more of where you are coming from. I don't think a 357sig in G31/32 is all that much more recoil than a 40s&W or 9mm. When you go 10mm, then it is noticeable but not abusive. If you can not tolerate a 40S&W, then stay away from the 357sig. I guess if you've already tried grip/mag extensions on the G33 and was not happy, you will not find joy with a G21/32

I've got a G3 31, and if it's got more recoil than a 17, I can't tell. More blast, I think, but I'd need to shoot them back-to-back to be sure.

If you look at the ballistics of a +P 9MM and .357 Sig, it makes sense they're not exactly worlds apart in recoil.

The 229 will handle recoil better simply due to the weight of the pistol. I love my 229's BUT I would reach for a Glock 32 over the 229 for carry just about all the time. Lighter and IMHO easier to carry concealed. I WANT to love the 26/27/33 but my hands and the grip just won't let me.

I´m highjacking this a bit older thread, because I´m thorn between the Glock 31 and 32.

I want to use it as a backup handgun for hunting (the rifle is the primary weapon).
So light and small, easy to carry is one thing, but being able to get the most out of it, controllability etc. is the other.
And I want to carry it concealed, so that not everybody can see from moment 1 that I´m carrying.
Nobody carries a 17 or a 31, right?

So actually I want to go with the Glock 32.
But I could handle a Glock 34 and a 19 side by side (which have the same grip size I guess?) and I couldn´t get a really good grip with the 19.
The finger grooves seemed not to fit my hand and my little finger wasn´t finding the right place/grip to the gun.
It somewhat felt a bit akward.

What should I do?
Taking the 32 to be able to conceal it or taking the 31, which just feels better?

Plenty of people conceal a 17/22/31 size pistol, you just have to dress around it a little more.

In terms of a backup gun for hunting, there’s not a dime‘s worth of difference between a 31 and a 32 except how well you might shoot one as opposed to the other. The animal definitely won’t know or care about half an inch of barrel. Pick the one you shoot best and use it, you owe the critter at least that much. Or, learn to love the 32 and get good with it.

Side note: It‘s weird you can get 357 Sig hunting ammo there but not Ameriglo night sights. Are you handloading?

I much prefer the "Compact" (Mid-sized) Glocks over either the Baby Glock G33 sized or the G31 full sized. I own a Glock 23 and have a glock factory 357 Sig barrel of it and KKM 40-to9 conversion barrel for it and a bunch 9mm magazines left over from when I owned a G19.

To me the mid sized guns are "Just Right" whether it's a G19, a G23, or a G32. I've never liked the baby Glocks because of their thickness and prefer a single stack for IWB carry and I've never liked the full sized guns at all except for the larger frame Glock 20 and 21. But I do like The G45 with the compact slide and the full size grip and I also like the G43x in a similar configuration but Iwish they made it in 40 caliber.
