Am being offered a 1990s Era Mk IV, with box and docs. Serial number dates 1992.

Anyone know what box Colt was shipping during this time frame? The end panel is missing so I can't be 100% sure (what is?) but with Ebay, Gbroker, etc all offering used or repro boxes...

So, brown plastic? Cardboard with foam insert? Current blue plastic? Or...?

This offering is in brown cardboard Colt logo box with white foam insert.

Thanks for any assistance.

Mine came with a light brown box. I think they were using it for revolvers too because it had a disk cutout in addition to the cutout for the 1911 chamber flag. I got it used in 99 but according to the person who got it from the original owner it was made around 95. It got passed around the department before it got to me.

Thanks Sir.

My last model O was 1992 BSS w/o box. Looking at a blue "companion" that's presented as box and docs. Have seen a couple on Gbroker similar to your description. But I don't trust a lot on GB these days w/o LOTS of pics and LOTS of A+ sales.

So THANK YOU for your personal observations. Much appreciated.

Btw, the blue plastic box does not have any marking or stickers with serial number etc.. (like the Glock boxes do).

The cardboard box had the sticker on in with that info (I whited it out in the picture).

As you can see the cardboard box is in kind of ratty condition and I would not be surprised if it was thrown away at some point btwn now and the 1990's.

The plot thickens...
No kidding my pistol points the other direction in the box.

Of course mine went through a few hands.

I didn't see the box until coworker 3 gave it to me. Saw the gun first at coworker 2, but not the box.

I bought a LNIB Gold Cup Commander and it came in a blue plastic box inside the white cardboard sleeve. It was made in 1991. It looked like the box the 1996 GCNM MkIV Series 80 came in I bought from a friend a few years ago. In the picture I had already changed out the rubber wrap around grips the pistol came with which are still in the box. The label with the info about the pistol is on a sticker on the end flap of the white cardboard sleeve.
